Adolf Hitler Flatware
Page 1
Third Reich collectors know that the most-sought-after items in the field of N.S. collecting are pieces that were the personal possessions of the Führer, Adolf Hitler. No other item, be it an -Schellenbaum, an automobile that belonged to Hermann Göring, or even Sepp Dietrich’s sword, can stir the imagination of collectors and historians as much as a single fork or spoon that came from one of Hitler’s residences or offices in Obersalzberg or Braunhaus, or even his Munich apartment, for instance. Just the very thought of this phenomenal man’s having actually (or even possibly) used this implement stirs up a frenzy of emotion that may not be visually evident, but down deep in the inner man the very idea that his inanimate object might have graced the table at the actual seating arrangement of Adolf Hitler is almost beyond comprehension, and not only for his ardent admirers, but for his natural enemies as well. The Hitlerophiles will be star struck, while those who hated him will still be astounded and taken aback as if some magical, omnipotent destiny lay before them.
Do I exaggerate? Well, I have seen the eye movement of many persons when such an item is suddenly produced before them with the assurance that it is indeed genuine (That is all we handle!) The Holy Grail might excite them more; or at least equally!
Love him or hate him, Adolf Hitler was without a doubt the man of the century and no other can exceed him in fame and earth-shattering occurrences due to his existence and his power. I have indicated that even his enemies have stood in awe of him. Carl Jung, the famous Swiss psychiatrist and founder of Analytical Psychology—also known as Jungian Psychology—is quoted as saying: “Hitler is a spiritual vessel, a demi-divinity, even better a myth! Mussolini is a man.”
Germania International has specialized in finding and procuring these pieces. Hitler Besteck for years now has been vigorously sought after and this flatware is getting very difficult to find and buy in these times. We will continue to bring them to you to the best of our capability. They truly are the ultimate in N.S. collectables and will only vastly appreciate in value in the very near future. This is an excellent investment in the history of the turbulent times.

Formal-pattern Spoon from the Berghof, Adolf Hitler’s Mountain Retreat High above Berchtesgaden (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-1) |
||||||
DESCRIPTION: Here is a formal-pattern luncheon spoon from Adolf Hitler’s flatware groupings. This has the Greek-key design that the Führer personally designed and seen at the backside shank of the spoon you can see the silver mark “800” and the hallmarks: a crescent moon, a crown, and an Imperial-looking eagle. The spoon measures 7 1/2 inches long. It’s in mint condition and the Hitler-style eagle and initials “AH” stand out strongly in raised fashion. These flatware implements are getting very hard to find and are most diligently sought after by collectors. This will not be available for long, so if you are interested in a genuine relic formerly the property of the German Führer, I think now is the time to do it before the price skyrockets, as it surely will.
PRICE: $2,400.00 |

Formal Flatware from Hitler’s Alps Mountain Retreat in the Obersalzberg (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-3) |
|||||||||||||||
DESCRIPTION: This is nothing short of incredible: a knife, fork, and spoon all dinner sized in the formal pattern in remarkably fine condition. It’s very seldom that a complete formal place setting shows up for sale, and all in dinner size; not mixed with luncheon pieces. These were bought from a GI looter formerly with the 101st Airborne Division some 30 years ago and have been retained in a private collection ever since. They are 100-percent genuine (actually I have never seen a copy!) and they are among the most collectible Third Reich items out there. The prices of them will be astronomical in the near future when one realizes that a chained model SS officer’s dagger that were made in possibly millions sells today in good shape for roughly $10,000, while something as super rare like a Hitler-owned spoon runs only about $2,500 by itself. I ask: “Which is more desirable as a truly valuable relic?” The knife, fork, and spoon are marked clearly with the stamping of half moon, crown, and little eagle marks. The three pieces of course have the Hitler special eagle with “A.H.” flanking each side. The edges show the Greek key design. Actually, Hitler designed the pattern for this formal and the informal silverware, himself, with the assistance of Albert Speer. He loved ancient Greek delineation not only in such things as this, but even incorporating it into buildings that he and his chief architect Albert Speer accomplished or had planned. This is the second-type flatware as produced by Bruckmann and is referred to as “The Formal Pattern.” Bruckmann was located in Heilbronn and has produced the very finest level of silverware in Europe. Again, the fact that the three pieces are together in a proper set makes them “very special.” If today you were lucky enough to find and purchase say a fork in this pattern, you might wait years to find the knife and spoon, especially in the exact dinner or lunch pattern. Here is a very rare opportunity to acquire each piece individually.
PRICE: $2,400.00 for each piece (irreplaceable) |

Complete Place Setting of Adolf Hitler’s Informal-Pattern Silverware (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-4) |
|||||||||||||||||||||
DESCRIPTION: This is an almost-impossible procurement. This is a fantastic assemblage of every single piece that would constitute a dinner placement and/or a luncheon setting for an honored guest. On the handle of each piece is a left-facing national eagle shown in the same position as found on the formal-pattern pieces except that it has not the detail and is much plainer than the formal pattern and it does not have the Greek-key design like the latter pattern. But, mind the fact that it is much more scarce than its pretty cousin. On each side is seen the Führer’s initials “A.H.” On the reverse of the pieces you can see in our images the imprint of the hallmarks of Bruckmann and the marks begin with the crescent moon and crown and the “800” silver content and, of course, Bruckmann’s personal Prussian eagle. *Usage: There are various theories as to just where and when the informal-pattern flatware was used. The author of the great little book The Encyclopedia of Third Reich Tableware, Mr. James A. Yannes, claims on page 615 that the informal design was used at the “Adlerhorst” (The Eagle’s Nest), Hitler’s Tea House, and this would have been appropriate for luncheons, but in his book he shows an informal luncheon fork and I may be wrong, but it seems when his book was published he may have thought the informal pieces were only luncheon flatware; however, we know at this point that an informal dinner set also existed and was used, as well. I believe Mr. Yannes is absolutely right when he says that it is generally accepted that there were only 1,000 pieces of the informal type ever made and he also indicated that knowledgeable sources state that Albert Speer was involved in the design of both the informal cutlery and the formal. My theory is a bit different. I believe that the informal flatware was the set used at Hitler’s Munich apartment at the Prinzregentenplatz Nr.16. The NSDAP owned the building and Hitler occupied the entire second floor. I also believe it was used at the Braunhaus, the official HQ of the N.S. Party at Briennerstrasse. Did Adolf Hitler every actually use any of these pieces? Considering how many were ever made and delivered, it would almost seem that he had to! This cannot be so assuredly said about the formal pattern because so many more of that pattern were made and used and at so many more official functions and so many more official governmental places. So, if it is your desire to own something actually used by the German Führer himself, this group will not only fill that bill, but I am positive that there will never be such a complete assemblage like this ever offered, again; of this I am practically sure! This is an absolute phenomenon extraordinaire! Hitler’s silverware is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain both formal and especially informal, and prices are steadily moving to over $2,500 per piece when found at all! The condition of all these twelve pieces is considered in very excellent shape except for a tiny ding on the handle of one of the knives. Included in the set are: # 1 A butter knife # 2 A dinner knife # 3 A salad knife # 4 A fish knife # 5 A teaspoon # 6 A dessert spoon # 7 A demitasse spoon # 8 and # 9 Two soup spoons of different sizes # 10 A dinner fork # 11 A salad fork # 12 A fish fork # 13 An oyster fork Please realize that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and you can just imagine the value of this group in the near future! Nothing soars in value like Hitler memorabilia. Paintings by Adolf Hitler such as the ones we procured have brought astronomical prices in Germany and in the US. Why? Because a watercolor by Hitler is a personal item in every sense, but so is an implement that he personally used at his famous dinner parties and social teas. This is the greatest item Germania has acquired in many a year. NOTE: All items have been sold except for the demitasse spoon, which is $1,000.00 To see the wonderful watercolor paintings by Adolf Hitler go to Items AH 28-13 and AH 28-14, then also read the article below them titled “Hitler Art is the New Rage Among Collectors.” |

Set of Tableware from Adolf-Hitler’s Special Train (Amerika) (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-5) |
||||||||||
DESCRIPTION: This is an incredible find. It comprises a set of four pieces from the staff Wagen 10-225 attached to Hitler’s special train. These wagons had ten compartments each with twenty fold-down beds to accommodate twenty staff members. In the train’s configuration in 1939, the train had three identical wagons. The pieces we offer each have the number “225” designation on them and the 2-90 maker’s code. We have a knife, spoon, dinner fork, and salad fork. The salad fork is in the luncheon size. The knife measures 10 inches long and has a marking on the blade Nicht rosten (Rustproof) or stainless. The information we have comes from the book by James Yannes on Third Reich tableware. The author says that there were two full-time silver polishers assigned to this train that was called the “Führerzug” and he says it had seventeen cars. The ones we offer are in full, brilliant polish. The full code name for Hitler’s train was “Führersonderzug” until the year 1940 and then afterward ironically it was named Amerika.The train was heavily armored with antiaircraft guns and the army command responsible for its coming and going managed to send it rolling very often on false routes in an effort to protect the supreme leader from the possibility of assassination. Amerika was put into service in August 1939. It consisted of a streamlined locomotive (later, two), the armored aircraft car had two CM guns and a 26-man crew, a baggage and power-engine car and the Führer’s Pullman (number 10206 in which his chief Wehrmacht adjutant, his chief personal adjutant, and a valet were also quartered). There was a conference car with communications center including several telephone machines. Also, there was an escort car for twenty-two Begleit-Kommando and SS-Reichssicherheitsdienst men; these were the leader’s personal security detachments. There, of course, was a modern dining car, plus two sleeping cars for entourage and guests, a bath car, two cars for personnel (secretaries, cooks, etc.), a press-chief’s car with communications center including a 700-watt shortwave transmitter. Unfortunately, there are no photographs of the Hitler train that have been absolutely certified to be genuine. There have been, however, some photos that have surfaced lately that may in fact be the actual train (one is shown in our imagery). That one has a very good chance of being Amerika. The train has an ultramodern look as the Sonderzug certainly would have, but it, of course, would have to have the tell-tale eagle and swastika plainly seen on its side. The train was stepping far out in futuristic design and was an absolute super example of Third Reich technology. For you to acquire these table pieces is to reach out and grab a significant part of that empire (Reich) that was very probably the ultimate Imperium of our age and that was in my estimation the last chance for uniquely western culture and high civilization and unfortunately we now have sunk into the moribund rather homely conglomerate called democracy with all of its political correctness! OK, so don’t let that shock you. It’s just the opinion of a historian who is by no means one of the court historians.
PRICE: Each piece is sold separately for $900.00. This is a “fantastic bargain!” that is offered by one of our consigners and remember these R.R. Führerzug items are far rarer and sought after than the formal and informal silver flatware by far. |

Adolf Hitler's Formal Napkin Rings (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-6) |
|||||||||||||
DESCRIPTION: These are fine original napkin rings from the residence of Adolf Hitler in the Obersalzberg over Bertesgaden in the Alps. These are incredibly fine and marked by Bruckmann, the firm that was the maker of most of the Führer 's silverware, other than the flatware that was made by Wellner. We have several of these that were brought back in 1945 by a veteran of the 101st Airborne. They are a bit tarnished, but that is the way we leave them. I polished one of them slightly for the pictures, but I usually don't alter anything, even to polishing. I Leave that to the collector who purchases. They are 1 ¾ inches high with a diameter of 1 ½ inches. The Bruckmann mark and the assay mark with the crown, moon, and eagle, plus 800 are clear as a bell. These are first-quality table-service items (of course). An elegant relic indeed and vastly important to history. The veteran looted four boxes full of these items from a storage facility in what was the basement of the Berghof in the Obersalzberg. He has released a few at a time to us and he watches our site closely. There will be a time when we will be able to get no more from him as he believes as we do that these Hitler personal items will eventually bring a “young fortune” in the near future. We have seen nothing yet as to a ceiling on NS and, especially, Hitler items. Consider yourself lucky if you are in time to procure one of these great relics having belonged to one of history’s most controversial world leaders. These napkin holders were used only for the most formal of dinner or lunch occasions. They were used along with the formal flatware. For lesser occasions the informal flatware was used. See Item AH 21-12a. So we are not only referring to an exciting, dramatic relic, but also a very sound investment, as well.

Mess Hall Flatware from the Elite Fuhrer Begleit Brigade (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-7; WEHR 30-6) |
|||
DESCRIPTION: These ultra rare items are to us an interesting phenomenon in that an interesting personality Major General Otto Remer commanded this elite unit. This was the man who almost single handedly as an “Oberst” (Major) with his loyal troops were ultimately responsible of completely foiling the July 20th 1944 assassination plot against Hitler. He was the hero of the whole affair as seen from (sane) German historical perspective, If you see the extravagant film Valkurie” he was the officer who upon orders from the Wehrmacht high Command was sent to arrest Doctor Goebbels, but after the little Doctor handed him the phone, he heard on the other end, “Hello Oberst Remer- Do you now who I am? Do you recognize my voice?” It was then that Remer knew that Hitler was alive and he now knew who needed to be apprehended. In the movie, it is he who walks up to all the assembled big wigs including General Beck and announces, “You are all under arrest for high treason!”
The history of this armored brigade, later an armored division, is fascinating 1939-1945 to find out more about this “Elite of the Elite” unit go to Wikipedia and put in “Fuhrer Begleit Brigade” and read their fantastic story. The flatware pieces that we have acquired are from the mess hall dining sets of this illustrious group. We do not know just what period they are from. Whether they are from the time when they were the personal guard unit for the Fuhrer or when they were the army group (not SS) that had the original duty of guarding him or when they became an armored Division. The set in all probability came from the garrison H.Q. in Fallsingbostel next to Hitler’s (Wolf’s lair) Rastenburg East Prussia. There are knives forks, spoons and a set of bread tongs. These pieces bear the mark of the “Fuhrerstandarte” the Reichskanzlers personal flag. This is the flag with the four corner eagles with wreathed swastika in its center. The pieces are in heavy silver plate and are all in very fine condition. We are breaking them up for the reason that there is not what could be called a complete set here although we do have 11 pieces initially. They are the most rare of all Third Reich flatware out there. There is a better chance by far to find a piece of Hitler’s personal formal silver dinnerware than to ever find one of these. By the way, Hitler himself would often be an honored guest at the FBB H.Q. and the likelihood of one of these utensils being used by Their Boss is very good. They certainly are a find! Who but Germania would have them? Real ones that is! The listing of what we have follows: Set #2 Single piece offered - Bread Tongs |

Set of Original Adolf Hitler Silverware from his Munich Apartment (Informal Pattern) (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-8; AH 29-26) |
||||||||
DESCRIPTION: Adolf Hitler maintained an apartment at #16 Prinzregentenstrasse in Munich from 1929 to 1934. The absolutely genuine set of flatware that we offer here was the type considered the “informal” pattern, but it is also called the “apartment silver” not to be confused with the “formal” pattern (See a set of the formal style at AH 28-19). It’s generally accepted that only a thousand or so pieces of the apartment silver were ever produced while five to six thousand of the formal pieces existed. Although the formal is prettier, it’s obvious that the informal apartment pieces are far more rare and the likelihood of these implements actually being personally used by der Führer is far greater than with the formal type that would have been found at the Reich Chancellery, the Berghof, the Braun House, the Berchtesgaden Chancellery, and other N.S. government buildings. The informal pattern was at the Prinzregentenstrasse ONLY. Both patterns were hallmarked in the identical manner and the marks appear in line, being a crescent moon, a crown, “800”, and a Prussian eagle. Both patterns were produced by the Wellner firm and the knives are stamped with a “W”. Both formal and informal were always produced in silver; sets of three pieces are rare indeed. If you have ever wanted to have an original item that belonged to Adolf Hitler, here is a rare chance to procure the same at an extremely reasonable price.

Four Forks from Hitler Luncheon with his Frontline Soldiers in WWII (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-13) |
|||||||||
DESCRIPTION: Adolf Hitler was an experienced frontline WWI solider, thus the German soldiers who served him and the German nation were very important and dear to him. Among the historic events of WWII involved his visit to the front and army group south at Zaporozhie during the Karkov offensive. This was a last-minute planned visit. It was never announced, of course, and the officers and personnel didn’t realize it until the last moment, and suddenly there he was, enjoying a field-kitchen meal with his warriors. Here are four forks that were purchased from the wife of a deceased Hauptmann (captain) of the command. The lady told us that her husband saved these pieces after the war and his final word about them was that these were some of the flatware used at that historic event, but she was unclear about when the "A.H." engraving was added to the pieces. She said they might have been field engraved in the few hours before the luncheon or after and this was not clear to her, but the facts of their usage at the historical event was for sure! Hitler had a large compliment of SS-LAH guards with him and he even sported a bulletproof vest on that day. The forks are the standard Wehrmacht-issue type with the stamped year "1942" and the eagle and swastika. The supposition is that as soon as the troops realized that their Führer would be dining with them there was a rush to have some appropriate Besteck (flatware) for the field dining table and obviously one of the soldiers had the capability to reasonably accomplish this managed to put the intertwined pattern "A.H." on several knives, forks, and spoons; after the meal these pieces were divided up amongst the personnel who feasted with the Führer. The late husband of the lady managed to receive these four forks that we now offer. The engraving is very light and primitive, but remember, it was done in very impromptu timing and under the worst possible conditions, but after all was said and done these brave soldiers were elated to be so fortunate as to be included in this history-making scenario. In the book titled The Encyclopedia of Third Reich Tableware by James A. Yannes, one can see similar patterns of "Hitler Besteck" on pages 43 through 59, but our dinner party obviously wanted to have its own design. The pieces have never been polished and have their own deep film that was produced by natural oxidation because of the many decades of storage. These items are certainly important historically and very reasonably priced.
PRICE: $425.00 each |

DESCRIPTION: This is a set of extremely rare, mint-condition, formal luncheon flatware. The knife, fork, and spoon have the proper marks. The sizes are as follows: knife, 8 inches; spoon, 7 inches; fork, 7¼ inches. Accompanying the set is this very rare luncheon napkin that we so seldom see. The size of the napkin is 12 inches square. Grand Tablecloth from the Berghof (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-15; AH 21-1) |
|||||||||||||
DESCRIPTION: Because of poor lighting, the tablecloth appears to be yellow in color, but is actually gold! This is one of the finest looking tablecloths we have ever seen; its pictures can't quite do it justice. It’s "gorgeous.” It's also large and measures 45 x 58 inches and has wonderful machine-embroidered oak-leaf sprays all around while in the center is a Hakenkreutz, or swastika, in a circle. This is a formal tablecloth used only at the highest luncheons that were usually at separate small tables sorted by importance at the Berghof dining hall, or sometimes the same tablecloths were used at the Reich Chancellery, as well. If you look at the seating arrangements shown on a document at Item AH 17-12, you can see that some pretty important people sat at these roundtables that were set up for luncheons. This is only the second one of these special high-luncheon tablecloths we have seen across the many years and this one is in almost perfect condition throughout except for a tiny dime-sized stain or two. This is one of the ultimate Hitler items. Along one edge are the embroidered words “Ges. Getsch. with a swastika at each end of the words. This means “Gesetzlich Geschützt,” or “Registered (patent/design/trademark).” We consider this to be an absolute treasure; prodigiously important historically and beautiful to boot! The embroidered oak leaves at the border and surrounding the swastika are wonderfully detailed in a rich creamy white and standout dramatically against the gold hue of this table covering. What more can we say? It speaks for itself. You will agree if you get to see it. Again, with this one the pictures just can't do it justice.
PRICE: $2,400.00; extremely reasonable for this one |

A Tablecloth from the Berghof (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-18; AH 25-16) |
DESCRIPTION: This is a very beautiful table cloth in silk. It is not the official type as usually encountered but it is probably a gift to him from some admirer amongst the millions of them that loved their Fuhrer. At the Berghof gifts came in like the horn of Cornacopia. Every week there were dozens and dozens of gifts from the rich, influential and famous but also gifts from the peasantry as well. Pieces that were essentially craft items made by men, women and children of the nation were pouring in to the point of making the SS men who sorted these things and filed them very busy men -- many of the items were exactly that!-- filed and it is probable that Adolf Hitler unfortunately never got to see most of them. This particular tablecloth is for a small end table cover and it is truly beautiful, in its center is a portrayal of one of the Fuhrer's favorite German legends... The Saga of Saint Hubertus. This story is pictured as the hunter and poacher Hubertus stalks an elk that was reported as the largest and most magnificant of all of his species ever encountered in the Bavarian Forest. There are several different version of the miracle that then transpired -- You can go on Google with the words ‘St. Hubertus’ or St. Hubert and see some of the legend recounted there. It is a beautiful story and tells how this poacher became a Saint due to the encounter with the Great Stag with the Holy Cross beaming between his antlers. So fine is this print (white on white) that it is very hard to picture it with our limited lighting and camera equipment but if I can be so bold to say it is genuinely gorgeous. The whole of the man and stag are surrounded on all sides with oak leaf branches and acorns depicted in a beautiful array: the cloth measures 42 inches x 19, it might be called a runner for as we have said for an end table. About 42 inches from the top of the piece is an embroidered A.H. (Adolf Hitler). This type of tablecloth would usually end up framed in an appropriate frame because the owners felt it was just so awesome looking to be wasted stretched across a table. Mark T. Griffith in his book Liberated Adolf Hitler Memorabilia shows in his pages many tablecloths, towels and napkins all from different Hitler residences with myriad styles of AH initials and this leads me to think many of them are like this one, gifts all individually made. In any case, what we offer here is a historically important art piece extraordinare! At a very reasonable price. PRICE: SOLD |
Adolf Hitler Tea Towel (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-19; AH 10-4) |
DESCRIPTION: This is an original Adolf Hitler personal possession from the Berghof, Hitler’s mountain retreat in the Obersalzberg above Bertesgaden. This was brought back by an American veteran of the 101st Airborne, the group that did most of the looting of the Berghof. He brought back a few of these towels and some of the Wellner silverware featured in several books. This particular example is rather stained after sitting in this man’s garage for over 50 years, but it’s genuine and considered very rare, today. Many items attributed to the Führer, although genuine, most probably were never actually used by him, but the Obersalzberg towels most probably were as they were looted directly from his personal linen closet in the Berghof. The towel is 22 inches square and is of fine linen material. The embroidered eagle (peculiar to the Führer) is found at the right-hand bottom of the towel. It is about 1 inch square. This one has a small hole or two in it. The staining may come out with a washing, but we will not undertake this. We will leave that to the buyer. Here is a chance to own a genuine important piece of Third Reich WW II history for an extremely competitive price. Compare with Hitler items on other sites. Note picture from the book Collector’s Guide to “Liberated” Adolf Hitler Memorabilia by Mark D. Griffith, MD. Do not ask us to procure this book or where to find it. It’s long out of print.

Adolf Hitler Berghof Tablecloths (Item HITLER FLATWARE 1-20; AH 10-5) DESCRIPTION: We have acquired five of these fantastic table runners that were used on side tables in the grand dining room of Hitler’s Berghof in the Obersalzberg. These side tables were pulled up at certain points of the grand table and usually were for wine bottles and ice buckets that were never placed on this main table. They match, of course, in design the huge tablecloth. They are in the finest of linen with an elegant floral pattern throughout. They also have the beautifully embroidered Reichsadler or national eagle in the special design. That could only be used by the Reichskanzler, himself. Beside the wreathed swastika flanking each side are the initials “AH” (Adolf Hitler). You can compare this eagle to the formal pattern flatware and the napkin rings from Hitler’s personal dinner service. Some of the articles are slightly stained, but a washing could make them perfect, no doubt. But we are not about to risk it. Besides, we like things of historic importance to remain as found. None of these stains take anything away from the beauty or importance of these great relics of the N.S. Reich and its phenomenal leader. They measure 38 x 19 inches; just about the size and dimension of the tables they graced. They are sold individually.
