Large Beer Glass (Item WAF 9-1) |
|
| DESCRIPTION: This is an absolutely gorgeous tall beer glass in the finest form. It is heavy as a beer glass should be and tall enough that the drinker will feel that he has not been short changed in his allotment of the heavenly suds. The glass is hand engraved and has the “Abzeichen der Wiking Div.” (the insignia of the famed Waffen-SS Viking Division). This shows a Germanic soldier with Teutonic sword and shield astride a Viking dragon ship. The soldier’s shield bears the Sonnenrad, the sun-symbol style or mobile swastika. Although dressed as one of the valiant Norsemen of old, he nonetheless wears the German WWII helmet. The other side of the glass has the runic in a shield with the legend “Zum Julfest 1941,” and a facsimile signature of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler. All of this is hand cut and engraved. The glass is 10 1/2 inches high with a mouth opening of 3 inches, and it is approximately 3 inches wide at the body. The heavy base portion is about 4 inches in diameter. Evidently Himmler had no doubt approved this item because his signature is used. It would have been hell to pay if he did not give his approval. The item is so elegantly done and artistically good that we can see the Reichsführer-SS enjoying the first draft of beer while nursing his cigar in the other hand. Himmler was very down to earth when off duty. The Wiking Division was one of his favorite units and he would surely have lent his name to this beautiful divisional art piece. Is it unique, or was it a prize of sorts to men of the division who had performed bravely in struggle against Bolshevism and its western protectors? In any case it stands today as a fitting remembrance of the brave warriors of Viking stock who fought for Europe. This is an incredible and important historical relic.
PRICE: $1,950.00; a wise investment

Plate from the Waffen-SS Sturmbrigade Langemarck (Item WAF 9-3) |
|
| DESCRIPTION: This souvenir plate was available for sale at company PXs of the Flemish brigade SS Freiwilligen Sturmbrigade Langemarck. This unit was composed of volunteers of Flemish background. They fought bravely on the eastern front in September 1944. The Sturmbrigade and its status were raised to that of a division, but its strength never reached more than a brigade. You can read much about this elite brigade on various sites on the worldwide web. The plate has the SS motto written in the Flemish language: “When all were unfaithful, we remained faithful.” The 3-armed swastika and the Flemish lion were the symbol of this unit and its brigade flag depicted this symbol as well. The plate is in perfect condition. There are no markings on the back. It measures 9 1/2 inches in diameter. It’s very dramatic looking and is a great memento as well as a historically important piece of WWII history.

8-Year Service Medal; SS-Dienstauzeichnungen (Item WAF 9-4; SS 31-8)
|
| DESCRIPTION: Here is a pristine example of the 8-Year Long-Service Medal. As condition goes it’s just about as nice a piece that you will ever see. This award was founded on January 30,1938, for members of the -Verfügunstruppen, -Totenkopfverbande, and the -Junkershulen who were on active service and had served honorably. All other SS members were only eligible to receive the NSDAP long-service awards. Four classes of the award were designed by -Oberführer Professor Karl Diebitsch of Munich, who was the chief advisor for all things artistic within the SS organization. We had the great pleasure of meeting and interviewing him in Tegernsee in 1973. This is the third-class medal and has the wreath superimposed over a large swastika. On the reverse side is a large figure ‘8’ and across this the words: “Für Treue Dienste in der ,” “For loyal service in the SS.” The medal is in excellent condition in bronze with highlighted figures, numerals, and runes. This is one of the most beautiful medals of the Third Reich.
PRICE: $450.00; this one is actually pristine!

Waffen-SS Match Safe (Item WAF 9-5) |
|
| DESCRIPTION: This, it seems, was a tradition among the soldiers of the Waffen-SS to commission artists in various liberated territories to engrave what is referred to as Errinerungstuck or memory pieces. We have seen quite a few collections of them in Germany and have been fortunate enough to be able to purchase a few in our trips there. This is a small match safe that has the special insignia of the elite Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler Division engraved by hand upon it. This is the rakish-looking eagle head with the double runes superimposed over the Iron Cross. On the reverse side is another set of Runes superimposed over a bough of oak leaves. The safe measures 1 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches. It’s in nice shape and is a really neat bit of history.

Pocket Watch of the Waffen-SS Heimwehr Danzig (Item WAF 9-6) |
|
| DESCRIPTION: This is tremendous; a great large pocket watch formerly owned by an officer in the famed Heimwehr Danzig- unit. It’s a big one about 2 1/4 inches in diameter. It’s a working watch with fine nickel case. The case is engraved on the back with the runic symbols for SS over a spray of oak leaves. Around the edge is the hand-engraved inscription “-Heimwehr Danzig 1.-8.9. 1939.” It’s a very fine relic of a very turbulent time and the owner certainly had his reasons for this particular date application. The Heimwehr Danzig was an unit established in the free city of Danzig. It fought with the German Army against the Poles during the invasion of Poland. After this it became part of the Third SS Division “Totenkopf” and ceased to be an individual unit. ‘Heimwehr’ means ‘homeland resistance.’ The unit was established 20 June 1939, when the Danzig senate was under Albert Forster, to set up its own powerful armed force; a cadre of this new unit primarily formed the Danzige SS Wachtsturmbann “Eimann.” It was commanded by -Obersturmbannführer Hans Friedemann Goetze. It was composed to a great extent of “Volksdeutsche” (ethnic Germans of the Polish corridor.) This Wachtsturmbann was the first regiment of the later -Totenkophverbande to have a purely military battle formation. They also had special police tasks in the in the new Reichsgau Danzig Westpreussen administration which means that they were used to hunt won, arrest, and prosecute communists, partisans, and other enemies of the Reich. The unit was considered elite and fought bravely in the early part of the war covering themselves with battle honors. Just part of the glory of the Waffen- is the fact that of the millions of SS men in the front lines were many warriors who possibly never even previously visited Germany. Their honor, however, was loyalty and their fame and glory will be appreciated yet!

Set of Tropical Helmet Shields
(Item WAF 9-7)
|

The uniform was tan with field blouse, trousers, M-43 cap, pith helmet, or tropical sun helmets (today, very rare). The metal escutcheons followed the design of Waffen- helmet decals. The set is as we say “mint” and the rarity is obvious. In all our many years at this we have only even seen this actual set and now that we have listed it here we have been contacted by a customer who has another set and is wiling to sell it. You can bet we will buy it!

Stopwatch from the Junkerschule Braunschweig (Item WAF 9-8) |
|
| DESCRIPTION: This stopwatch was manufactured by the famed firm of Junghans. It made most of the military timepieces of the Third Reich including naval bulkhead clocks that we have sold (they were the best!). This fine pocket stopwatch is definitely first class and working perfectly. It is hand engraved on the back of the case with the national eagle and the date 24/4/1943. Along the bottom is the legend -Junkerschule Braunschweig. This was undoubtedly for special sporting events held at the famous academy for future officers. The -Junkerschule’s were formed in 1937 to produce professionally qualified young officers. It was equivalent to the army war academies of the Reich except for the fact that the training was far more intense and the qualifications much more demanding about 15,000 prospective leaders were produced at this rigorous-training institution. Sylvester Stadler and Felix Steiner were students and teachers at the Braunschweig Academy later Paul Hauser was the commandant of the -Junkerschule Braunschweig. This academy and the Bad Tolz Junkerschule turned out the finest examples of Waffen- officers I have had the distinct honor to meet several of them. I respect them deeply. No finer soldiers have ever marched in the annals of warfare. They were the absolute finest examples of elite warriors in an elite Wehrmacht army “Meine Ehre Heist Treue.” This great stopwatch is about 2 inches in diameter. It functions perfectly. The condition is perfect. An original leather thong still remains attached. This is just a great memento of a noble mission to free Europe of the communist menace and to establish a true united nations of European brotherhood. Want to hear something negative about them? It exists in many sites and places, but you won’t hear it here.

1936 Model Chained Waffen- Officer’s Dagger with Portepee (Item WAF 9-9) |
|
| DESCRIPTION: This is, again, one of the best you will find out there with type II nickel chain. This is an exemplary specimen grade excellent-plus with the 43-cm portepee as worn by Waffen- officers. This dagger also has a 100-percent proper black leather carry strap with the slightly pebbled finish to its ring appurtenance. The link detail is exceptional throughout. The original black paint on the scabbard remains in good condition. The teeth on the skull are clear and concise; the eagle in the grip is in the nickel finish; the button is finely defined. It was after 1943 that Waffen- officers and senior NCOs wore the 42-cm aluminum portepee with these 1936-pattern chained daggers. The portepee was also extended to the Sicherheitspolizei (SIPO) and the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) in 1943. This chain assembly, being the improved type II, has the cloverleaf snap clip that is closed. The type I’s are open exposing the letters ‘DRGM.’ The closed type II like this one does not show these letters. The fittings where the wood of the grip meets the metal of top and bottom guards is tight. The blade is very fine with the letters of the motto “Meine Ehre heist Treue” are clear with no pitting or real abrasions to speak of. Some minor staining, repeat, minor. It cannot be said to detract at all! I mean it!!! The beautiful, bright finish on the fittings match perfectly “scabbard to guards to chain assembly.” Gentlemen, this is ever so important. Many offered out there are mixed; in other words, different, and wrong scabbard-to-dagger combination. Watch for this; it happens often! There are lots of mismatches out there. This is an excellent example of the finest of NS daggers. It is as we have said, the personification of Reich relics. You don’t have an SS collection until you acquire one of these; especially in this condition. You practically could not do better. Yes, this possibly seems expensive to you, but it is possibly the wisest investment you could make in this field. The price will significantly rise in a very short time. Nine-five percent of NS collectors consider this ’36 model chain as the best-designed dagger of the Third Reich and of course there is the mythos of the “Herrenvolk” that attaches to it! (Well, you know that!)
PRICE: $14,850.00; next year???
