Massive Book of WWI (Item WWI 1-1)

DESCRIPTION:Hindenburg Denkmal für das Deutsche Volk, Hindenburg Monument for the German People, measures 14 x 11 inches and is 1 ¾ inches thick. This is a very heavy volume. This rare book is in absolutely immaculate condition. It contains 503 pages. From page 356 to page 503 it traces the coming Nazi revolution. There are many great NSDAP, SA, and Hitler photos. The last 3 pages were folded over at some time and the upper right corners were weak and have been supported by tape. Otherwise, this beautiful volume is in near-mint condition. It was published in 1922. We cannot overemphasize the importance and beauty of the volume. Its pictures stagger the imagination. The authors knew at this early time that the old field marshal would literally hand over the Vaterland to the WWI corporal and this is reflected even in the first pages where the ceremony at the Potsdam Garnisonkirche is covered in detailed text and pictures. Full-page color plates and superlative black-and-white photos abound. This is clearly a treasure trove of historical importance dealing with WWI and the early NSDAP.

WWI Soldier Album (Item WWI 1-2)

DESCRIPTION:A whopping 159 pictures all on postcard-sized stock. All original (no copies). Pictures from the trenches, fortifications, many officers and enlisted men, sailors, infantrymen, Austrian and German. There are church services in the cathedral and in the field, weapons, liberated villages, cannon, the enemy dead, the honored dead of the German Army, addresses by important leaders to the troops, Christmas scenes at the front, a great picture of soldiers doing reenactment of 16th century sequence at a castle. On the last two pages are pictures of a Hitler Youth Detachment that is shown under a WWI army detachment right above. It can only be surmised that this is a set of photos are from the previous owner showing himself and his comrades in the picture and, above, the picture of his father and his Kameraden. The last page contains 3 photos of WWII officers (one is Luftwaffe). This might carry the assumption that one of them might be the lad's father now in the Wehrmacht and possibly relatives of the family who served their country. The album is 100 percent complete and the pictures fine and all historically important. The album measures 9 x 11 inches and is about 1 inch thick. We have never seen or heard of a better WWI archival collection. This is GREAT PLUS! The price is less than $4 each per photo and many, many of this type photo bring $10 to $15 each at shows and the web.

Tunic of the 15th Uhlans (Item WWI 1-3)

DESCRIPTION: This is a tunic of the elite Uhlan (cavalry) unit known as the 15th Prussian Uhlans piped in cavalry yellow. This tunic brings to the collector the historic thrills of the hard-riding "Lance-at-the-ready, clattering hoof beats, and dashing riders of antiquity of more noble warfare." This is a small tunic as these men were small, but tough as nails when in the saddle. Please do not ask us for size as we have no way to determine this in conversion to American sizes. Inside the front flap there is a stamped '42.' Other numbers are stamped there as well: 96-43, 86-66, BAX V and the date (1941) UR (Uhlan Regiment 15). All buttons are there on this enlisted-man's tunic. Slight mothing here and there mostly in the piping, collar, and cuffs; not to detract from this wonderful relic of the early war's glory time! We are proud at Germania to offer this incredible tunic. Since uniforms are not our usual offerings we will not get into a long and tedious descriptive experience. Suffice it to say that here is a fine historically important item in unusually fine overall condition.
