Copy of Recruiting Poster for the Waffen-SS (Item WAF 4-2; YOUTH 3-20) |
| DESCRIPTION: Here is one of the neatest of the Waffen-SS recruiting posters. This is an accurate copy right to the size and the color. It features the depiction of a Hitler Youth lad standing in the shadow of the Waffen-SS soldier. The German words “Auch du” mean “And you. It is meant to inspire youth to seek membership in the elite guard of the German Armed Forces. This is very dramatic and colorful. We offer very few reproduction items on Germania, but we feel we have to make the exception for some very special items that belong in good WWII collections and might not be available elsewhere. This print is in an excellent fine frame professionally fitted. It measures 25 x 18 ½ inches.
PRICE: $75.00, framed; $35.00, unframed |

Waffen-SS Glass (Item WAF 4-4) |
| DESCRIPTION: This is a rare hand-etched glass from the Wiking Division of the Waffen-SS. It was broken years ago, but the collector who had it thought so much of it that he had the sharp edges where the break occurred filed down professionally so that the edge is smooth. There is another short crack art the side top (see picture). The item is still an important relic and the hand-etched Viking ship is very beautifully executed. The item is worth preserving for its historical importance. If perfect this item would sell for over a thousand dollars, but since it is not all there, we will sell it for much less.

Austrian M-16 Transition Helmet for the SS (Item WAF 4-5; HELM 1-3) |
| DESCRIPTION:This refurbished helmet is very similar to the one shown on page 185 of the book, The History of the German Steel Helmet: 1916-1945, by Baer. This would be what is described as the medium-green reissue to the SS-Verfügungstruppe, the predecessor of the Waffen-SS. The helmet is in a fairly large size. It has some scratches as expected. I think it to be one of the most beautiful of the Deutsches Stalhelm. It has a nice liner an strap that has been newly inserted. This helmet in the original would truly cost a fortune.

Letter from Oswald Pohl to SS-Obergruppenführer Hildebrandt (Item WAF 4-6; SS 22-2) |
| DESCRIPTION: Here is a rare official letter from SS-Obergruppenführer (Lt. General) Oswald Pohl, the administrative chief of the SS to Richard Hildebrandt. SS-Obergruppenführer (General) Pohl, born in 1892 and officially murdered in 1951, was the head of the WVha economic office of the SS. He was born in Duisburg and was a naval officer in WWI. He joined the Nazi Party in 1929 and became an SA officer 10 years later, mostly because he was a close personal friend of Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler. He was appointed Minister Director from 1942 to 1945. He was a general in the Waffen-SS and was in charge of all concentration camps and SS works projects. Richard Hildebrandt, was a general in the Waffen-SS and Chief of the Central Office of Race and Resettlement (RuSHA) before becoming a general officer. He was wrongfully executed after a mock trial in 1952. The letter is on Oswald Pohl’s stationery and dated 25. Januar 1938 and is hand signed with a “Heil Hitler!” in closing. It basically is a thank-you letter to Hildebrandt for his part in providing an Italian tour for Pohl and other comrades and it speaks of there being another return trip and he hopes that others may have the same enormous pleasurable time. He sends cordial and comradely greeting. Pohl signatures are rare and being on official stationary makes it even more desirable. This is on very thin linen paper and is in really good shape with 1-inch-long nick or tear at the bottom (does not detract at all). It measures 11 x 8 1/4 inches. The scribble at the top is most likely Hildebrandt’s “received” mark done in red or orange pencil. This is a very important historical document from the highest echelons of the Allgemeine-SS and is an important archival treasure.

Gift to Commander Waffen-SS Charlemagne Division (Item WAF 4-7) |
| DESCRIPTION: Here is a unique presentation gift to a division commander from his men. This was to Krukenberg in 1944. It reads “UNSFREM VEREHRTEN KOMMANDEUR KRUKENBERG IN AUFRICHTIGER DANKBARKEIT VON DEN MÄNNERN DER 33 WAFFEN SS GRENADIER DIV. CHARLEMAGNE 10 FEB 1948.” Translated: “To our esteemed Commander Krukenberg in sincere gratitude from the men of the Waffen SS Grenadier Division Charlemagne.” This elite division was made up of volunteers from France, Franzosische Nr. 1. They were volunteers in the Wehrmacht (Heer) and the Waffen-SS. To a great extent they were assigned to antipartisan duties in Belarus. In September 1944, the French volunteers were joined to the first regiment named after Charlemagne. There were also volunteers from Switzerland in their ranks. The commander was Dr. and SS General Gustav Krukenberg with Edgard Puaud as nominal French commander. The unit known as a Grenadier regiment was officially upgraded to a division with the name Waffen-Grenadier Division der SS Charlemagne. It was sent to fight against the murderous red army in Poland in February 1925. It faced troops of the First Byelorussian Front and was split into three parts. Only the units with Krukenberg survived when they went to the Baltic coast and were evacuated to Denmark and later to Neutrelitz for refit. In early April in Carpin, Gen. Krukenberg, commander now of 1,100 men, released those who were disillusioned and about 700 heroes chose to remain to do further battle with the beast of Bolshevism. In April 1945, the rest of the unit was ordered to Berlin and place under the command of SS-Standartenführer Walter Zimmermann. Some 330 reached it before the red swine encircled them. They fought nobly and bravely beside their German comrades until the general surrender on May 2, when the 30 soldiers left surrendered to the Russians. They were never seen again. They had fought the good fight just like the Spartans at Thermopylae. One day, when revisionist history gets it truths to be heard, the Charlemagne Division will be considered as noble as Saint Joan of Arc. The statue is in the finest tradition of bronze sculpture with exquisite detail. It depicts the great Christian emperor King of the Franks, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, 742-814. It is said of him he was 6 feet 4 inches tall and built to scale. He had beautiful white hair, animated eyes, a powerful nose, and a presence always stately and dignified. The statue certainly gives all of this perception. It is also said that he became the master of Europe by the sword and cross. Unfortunately many thousands, whom he considered pagan and refused Christianity, or the new king, were unmercifully slaughtered. More people on earth were slain in the name of the Prince of “Peace” than in any other cause, or murdered because they stood up for their Christian principles. The height of the statue is about 11 inches. The base is about 1 1/2 inches thick and measures across 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. The presentation of words is contained in a beautiful silver scroll with hand engraving. The men of the division must have dearly loved their Commander Krukenberg to give him such a wonderful gift. The brown marble base is finely cut with rounded scalloped edges and is a work of art in itself. This is as fine an important historical treasure as we have ever obtained.
