Waffen-SS Recruiting Poster (copy) (Item WAF 2-4)

DESCRIPTION: Copy? Why do we include it? That’s easy. It’s because it’s so great a poster that we just felt it was too nice not to be included. Also, this is an early copy that is about 20 years old. Later copies that are being sold on the net are not of this quality. We were able to obtain a few of these. We will offer this nicely framed example in the hopes that it will be a great fill-in for a collector. The words below: “Berufen zum Kampf Hütter des Friedens,” translate roughly to “The Mission of this Struggle is to Guard the Peace.” This is definitely the nicest of all SS recruiting posters. The artist, Anton, was Göring’s favorite. The framing on this picture cost $65.00

PRICE: $150.00; framed. Available unframed, as well. Inquire.

Propaganda Poster (Item WAF 2-6)

DESCRIPTION: These posters recently were found in Russia and it’s believed that some of them were produced in Russian in towns where the populace was anticommunist and pro-German. They are decidedly old and some are a bit dog eared. Almost all have been folded and they were put away for many years. We were told that they were made in printing shops and in many cases sold to the liberating German army personnel and SS as souvenirs. Most are quite colorful and dynamic. Many of them came out of the Moscow Museum. They all seem to measure 34 x 24 inches. They were, up to now, a private collection of a man in St. Petersburg, who bought all he could find in the last 25 years. Russia is still chock full of German relics of WWII. They are priced differently according to the subject and condition. This one is a typical propaganda poster in the Russian language depicting the Soviet commissar with the whip raping ad killing the European woman while being encouraged by his handler and advisor who stays in the background. (Blatant? You decide).

Set of Spoons that Commemorates the Danish Waffen- (Item WAF 2-7)

DESCRIPTION: The Danish volunteers in the Waffen-SS emerge from their beginnings as the Frikorps Danmark from 1941-1943. Frikorps Danmark was established as a Danish corps to fight communism and, from its beginning, was controlled from Denmark, being placed under the control of the SS-Division Totenkopf and 1. SS-Brigade during its service on the Eastern Front. It was a relatively small formation, which almost entirely consisted of Danish volunteers. During their time on the Eastern Front, they suffered heavy casualties. In 1943, the high command of the Waffen-SS decided to disband Frikorps Danmark, and the personnel had to transfer to a new German division, which was directly controlled by the Waffen-SS. When first organized in 1941 it was so popular that various souvenir items were struck in a patriotic vein to honor the Danish Fatherland and the service of these brave volunteers who would stand up against the horrible Bolshevik menace facing Europe. The set of seven spoons that we offer here is a good example of such patriotic offerings at that time .They are either cast in silver or are heavily silver plated. Each of them depicts a city or town in the land of Denmark and each one has a beautiful décor that shows a notable historic building that would be seen in these locations .All of the artwork is deep and stands right out in perfect harmony with the patriotic theme portrayed. On the reverse side of the spoons’ handles, you can see the flatware company’s patriotic dedication to the young men who joined the Waffen-SS in order to assist all the other volunteers of various European nations in the noble struggle against the Reds. The design on the reverse side is the runic SS deeply set in a shield that was not so unlike the war shields carried by the brave Viking warriors who were the direct ancestors of these combatants. The seven spoons are in perfect condition. They generally measure a little over four inches long. They stand today as a kind of remembrance of the raw courage and vivid sense of patriotic duty shown by these young heroes.
