U.S. GERMAN POW RING (Item WEHR 2-3)

DESCRIPTION: This is one of the most unusual rings that we have ever encountered. A group of these was found in Germany among a grouping of jewelry that was found in a bombed-out factory that specialized in fine military and Nazi-Party rings, brooches, pendants, etc. The strange thing about these rings is that they were made on ring blanks that are typical of American-style military rings, but they say along the edge, "German Prisoners of War, Camp McCoy USA."
Intrigued, we went on the net and actually found a Fort McCoy and after talking with a lady who had something to do with the fort's historical archives, we learned that there was a POW camp there during WWII. Ft. McCoy is in Wisconsin and still exists. From the lady we spoke to we found out that the German prisoners there were treated very special because the fort bordered a very huge and prestigious German community. So, the fascinating possibility and probability arise that suggest that these rings were actually ordered from the German firm (cited above) by German citizens in the Wisconsin towns and were meant to be given perhaps as Christmas gifts to soldiers within the confines of this camp. This is one for Ripley's Believe It or Not considering the harsh treatment fostered upon German soldiers in Germany in 1945 under allied auspices. The ring is stamped 925-practically the highest silver content used during that period in Germany. Understandably, the Imperial eagle is used rather than the Hoheitsabzeichen, "National Eagle," of the Third Reich. The sides show only enough of the typical military version of the American eagle. The symbolic American star and a rank chevron sit upon the bundle of sticks and arrow yoke. All the above is probably the German jeweler's idea of what is "Yankee" enough to blend with the fatherland's symbol hopefully making a peaceful amalgamation. This can be said to be a truly historical find with all sorts of interesting implications and wild conjecture. Its size is about a 10. Beautifully presented, this would be a great wear ring invoking much conversation. A history of Fort McCoy accompanies the ring.

DAS HEERS (GERMAN ARMY) VICTORY RING (Item WEHR 3-1)

DESCRIPTION: This is the most beautiful ring of the Third Reich. It is fully enameled. These rings were crafted for the Waffen-SS, army, navy, and air force and were never officially issued, although battlefield pickups were actually noted. The rings were designed basically the same, but for the central design, which would be different as to branch of service. There was a special one for the SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler (LAH). The rings were mostly found in April 1997 at the Stuttgart Military Show. Many of the items found were left on the workbenches and were prototypes and these victory rings were in that category. A few were released, but the greater part were in the planning stage. However, several of each were hidden away by this enterprising jeweler and thus we were able to buy them many years later at Stuttgart. We know from the jeweler that there was a model for the Luftwaffe, but he was not able to find any at that precarious time. When we bought the cache of treasures we had to buy it all including many baubles that had nothing whatever to do with the NSDAP or Wehrmacht. There were wedding rings of the SS, but civil examples, as well. There were also cameo brooches, religious crucifixes, etc. The great thing about it was that these companies were contracted to produce, repair, and design jewelry for famous personages such as Himmler, Goring, Gaulieter Wagner, etc., and there were some fantastic items recovered and purchased by me and two German dealers. Of all the Third-Reich rings that were acquired the Victory Rings are by far the most beautiful and stunning. They would have been issued to generals, field marshals, and Knights-Cross winners had the war ended in victory for the Reich. This is the Wehrmacht version of the Victory Ring. The Iron Cross is featured in the center of the chest shield. This ring is in beautiful condition with no enamel chipping. These rings will be considered the most rare and sought-after pieces of Third-Reich memorabilia. They are available to the entrepreneur or collector, but severely limited in number. This is the chance to purchase one of the finest and most beautiful of all Reich relics.

GERMAN ARMY WEST WALL RING (Item WEHR 3-2)

DESCRIPTION: This ring first of all is in the very finest detail of an German ring that you will ever encounter. Even the pictures cannot do it justice-spectacular definition. Note: the teeth are better than an honor-ring skull. The West Wall ring came in many designs, but the leering skull was always the favorite motif for the troops stationed at the western defenses. Here is a ring that can be worn without serious reproach from fools, yet, it bespeaks the valiant struggle of Germany's best in the crusade that has come to be known as WWII.

German Mountain Trooper’s Ring (Item WEHR 15-6)

DESCRIPTION: Here is a really rare ring. It is the ring worn by the Gebirgsjäger, Mountain Troops. Quite naturally it bears the Edelweiss at the top, the flower that only lives up in the lofty peaks of the Alps. Songs have been written about this precious flower and we don’t even count the one from the awful movie, The Sound of Music (that propaganda flick). This is a beautifully crafted ring in ‘835’ silver and marked inside as such. The German Mountain Troops were a tough, resourceful lot of elite soldiers, who conquered the snowy peaks in the struggle for Europe. This is very nice and rare.

Skull Ring (Item WEHR 19-12; WAF 5-12)

DESCRIPTION: This is a ring that may well be a “West Wall ring.” This style, among other motifs, was commonly worn by soldiers of the West Wall (Siegfried Line). The angle of the skull, unlike so many skull-decorated rings of the German services, looks to the left when viewed. This is why we feel that it might be the style for the alt="Wehrmacht". Note in our pictures that the SS skulls of the second type look to the left and are very definitely not looking straight at you. The floral design at the sides is usual on West Wall rings. The ring probably was not exclusive for the SS, but there is a probability that because of its design it may well have been favored by them. This is a good-looking elite-forces ring, in any case.

Ring for German WWII Medical Corps Personnel (Sanitätstruppe Personal) (Item WEHR 27-5)

DESCRIPTION: This beautiful ring was the official one used by the Amt für Gesundheitsdienst. It was authorized for wear by Truppenarzt (medical examiner) and Sanitätsinspektur (medical inspector) and various other Sanitätsoffizier (medical officers). The information as to the persons authorized comes from some of the papers and notations of the silversmith who produced these rings at the behest and authorization of the Amt für Wehrmacht Gesundheitsdienst, the Army Medical Department. It was ordered and obviously some were made and delivered, but as we have said before, such rings although official, were not issue items, rather they were individually purchased by personnel authorized to wear them. This ring is particularly beautiful. It uses the familiar art-deco shank as used on several other Schnell-designed rings. The top is a frame in silver containing a Stalhelm or steel helmet with the Teutonic sword crossed with the caduceus, the universal symbol of the medical profession. This is the rod with the serpent wrapped around it. The reason for the sword is to differentiate the design from the normal medical logo and show that this is military medical. This is, of course, in mint condition and is crafted in ‘835’-grade silver and so stamped inside the shank. We have about five of these and in different sizes so if you are purchasing one you might mention the size you wish to have and perhaps we can accommodate you. This is a rare piece of Third Reich jewelry at a very nominal price.

West Wall Helmet Ring (Item WEHR 28-12)

DESCRIPTION: This is one of the varieties of West Wall Rings. There were several types, some featured skulls, while others featured the concrete “Dragons Teeth” fortifications. But by far the most popular were the ones such as this that depicted the German Helmet (“Der Stalhelm”). The soldiers that wore these rings were the front line of defense for the European continent. Many military songs were composed honoring these stalwart warriors. Throughout the time when all Europe feared for the coming invasion and the horrible Fratricidal War. Launched by the British who had started the whole thing in the first place with their “Preventative War” against the central powers with the ignoble idea that Britain must always Rule the Waves and the land and the air, etc., etc. Otto von Bismark had said, “Waging Preventative War is like committing suicide out of Fear of Death”. So as history records the Germans were crushed, the British lost their empire and the Soviets emerged as the “real danger” to the west. History is for the most part a continuum. Look at the preventative war against the Muslims that Bush and his Neo-Coms are waging against the Muslim world and look at the fallout already achieved. Sorry but as a historian I just can’t help extrapolating important meaning from events of the past and seeing the same mistakes being repeated. Read Pat Buchanan’s new book “The Unnecessary War”.  Now back to the ring. This is a fine looking piece of martial jewelry; a design that “says it all”. This ring is in pure 835 silver and is so stamped inside. The helmet with the Swastika is literally defined with crossed swords and the words “West Wall”. By the way, the words “West Wall” are the same in German as they are in English. A great historically important piece of WWII history.

Panzergrenadier Ring (Item WEHR 33-9)

DESCRIPTION: Here is one of the rings that we were able to purchase in Stuttgart a few years back. Please read the narrative at “About our Rings and Silver Insignia” and you will understand how this came about. Panzergrenadier is a German term for the soldiers who were transported in combat vehicles specialized for such tasks. The concept was introduced in World War II, and the term was adopted in 1942 when infantry regiments were renamed as grenadier regiments by Adolf Hitler as a historical homage to the army of Frederick the Great, whom he admired so greatly. Therefore, it was with great pride that these elite units went forth in the shadow of the soldiers of “Der Alte Fritz.” The ring has the skull that was commonly used by elite special-fighting units such as the Panzer Corps, the Waffen-SS, etc., but the positioning of the bones that flank the sides of the leering skull are laid out quite differently—side by side instead of crossed; could this be indicative and suggestive of armored vehicle treads? The ring is struck in 800 silver and is so marked. It’s quite handsome in a macabre way. When we unearthed the Schnell collection the greatest number of rings were these particular ones, thus we price them the most reasonably of all the rings purchased. It will not be long until some of the forgers out there will copy this ring. Some of these contemptible “blackguards” will make copies of this ring after ordering from us in a false name, of course, but the difference will be obvious. They have purchased others and immediately they will attempt a good copy although it can’t be perfect as ours are. Why? Because no matter what they claim, their rings are made in lost-wax molds whereas the originals that we carry were made in steel dies back then in the Reich, much too expensive for these scoundrels. Some of the copies are coming in from China and Poland (especially from Poland). We handle only original-period pieces at Germania and this Panzergrenadier ring is exactly that!

PRICE: $425.00; this one is truly a remarkable bargain!

POA Ring (Item WEHR 22-14; RUSO 4-7)

DESCRIPTION: Here is a finger ring of the army known as the Vlasov Army Russkaye osvoboditelnaya-Amiya Pycckar Ocebodumenbhar Apmur, abbreviated in Cyrillic as POA. This was the patriotic forces that were allied with NS Germany. The POA was organized by former red army General Andrey Vlasov, who tried to unite all Russians in opposing the regime of the monster dictator, Joseph Stalin. Amidst the volunteers were Soviet prisoners of war, eastern and Russian émigrés (some of whom were veterans of the anticommunist white army during the Russian Civil War). On 14 November 1944, it was officially renamed the Armed Forces of the Committee for the Liberation of the Russian Peoples. These men fought bravely alongside their western-European allies against the murderous hordes of reds. They were true Russian patriots and most of the Russian people agree with this assessment today. Included later in the POA was the dashing Cossack cavalry corps of General Helmuth von Pannwitz, the Cossacks of Ataman Domanov, and other white émigré formations such as the famed Russian Corps. It was a great mistake on the part of the Germans not to put more faith and support to these brave soldiers and officers. Things would have been different in the outcome of WWII. The ring is beautifully made and it is silver with the cross of Saint Andrew in blue enamel framed with red border in a shield shape. Above this also in enamel is the ‘POA,’ for Russian Army of Liberation. The sides of the ring bear the sunflower design beloved by Russians, Ukrainians, Georgians, etc. For details about our rings see ”About Our Rings and Silver Insignia.” These rings were made in Germany for the POA and there is the German ‘825’ silver designation stamped inside. This is a very nice historically important relic of the desperate and horrible war in the east.
