UHLAN CAVALRY ALBUM (Item KBOOK 1-1; KHISTORY 1-1)

DESCRIPTION: This richly decorated photograph album is from the 2nd Hannover Uhlan, Light Cavalry, Regiment Number 14. It is from around the 1880’s and was presented to the brigade commander by the officer corps of the 2nd Regiment Number 14. The album is covered in rich Ghana style leather with a velvet center panel containing a brass plaque with the symbol of the regiment. Bronze floral designs trace the edges of the leather cover. Inside is a beautiful hand painted and lettered presentation page with the Hohenzollern and Kaiser Reich eagles. Also inside are 29 studio portrait images of the regimental officers showing them in full dress uniform wearing medals and swords. If one takes the time to look on the backs of the pictures, the assembler wrote the names of the men on the reserve of each picture. The studio signs all the photos where they were taken, mostly at Erfurt and Berlin. A page from the Deutsches Rangliste comes with the album and it shows the very same names as are written on the reserves of the photographs. Henning and Von Schultz are two of them shown in the rangliste and on the backs. The cover is 20 ½" x 13" and the album is 3 ¼" thick. The locking device that once held the album shut has been lost during the years but in general the album is in fine shape. This is a real piece of history from the age of "High adventure and Glory."

Fantastic WWI German Book in Giant Edition (Item KBOOK 1-2)

DESCRIPTION: Ehrendenkmal der Deutschen Armee und Marine, 1871-1918; this is a huge book 2 ½ inches thick and 11 ¼ X 15 ½ inches and 12 pounds in weight. It was published in 1927 by the German National Verlag and given in honor to commemorate the 80th birthday of the Reich's President and General Field Marshal von Hindenburg. It contains 658 beautiful pages with 40 sepia-tone and full-color, full-page illustrations, and a beautiful fold-out color uniform display page at the back-cover insert. This is possibly the most exhaustive and heroic attempt to chronicle the history of Germany's valiant servicemen in their efforts for the Deutsches Vaterland. The beauty of this massive volume is obvious, but it can also be considered a historic treasure that should be carefully preserved as it undoubtedly was a special edition presented by government sources to libraries and other archival repositories. They don't come better than this. A virtual treasure chest of knowledge and a bibliophile's dream!

PRICE: $750.00.

Rare Book on German Imperial Uniforms (Item KBOOK 1-3)

DESCRIPTION: Das Deutsches Heer is the ultimate uniform book of the Imperial German Army. It almost seems it was made for official sources such as foreign military offices and officials. It is stamped in the front that it is from the collection of Carlos Maria Naon. The pages have number stampings 1-30. It seems to be from the 1890's and the prints are still in vivid color. The pages show age, but are in perfect condition. Each grouping of soldiers numbers from 11 to 15 in the accurate uniform of his corps-Guard Corps, Prussian Army Corps, 1 through 15. Then the Bavarian Army Corps, 1 and 2; the Stabswachen, Gendarmerie, the Unteroffizier-Schulen and Castle Guards, the Cadet Corps, the bands, the Wacht guards, subordinate officers, the cavalry, the Rittmeister, the officers of the general staff, the Landwehr, etc. At the last part of the book there are some typewritten sheets pasted in translating the German descriptions into Spanish. The book is in very fine overall condition except for the spine which is loose, but holding well! It measures 11 ¾ x 9 inches and is ½ inch thick. The book is definitely extremely rare and a true treasure to the German Army enthusiast.

Massive Book of WWI (Item KBOOK 1-6)

DESCRIPTION:Hindenburg Denkmal für das Deutsche Volk, Hindenburg Monument for the German People, measures 14 x 11 inches and is 1 ¾ inches thick. This is a very heavy volume. This rare book is in absolutely immaculate condition. It contains 503 pages. From page 356 to page 503 it traces the coming Nazi revolution. There are many great NSDAP, SA, and Hitler photos. The last 3 pages were folded over at some time and the upper right corners were weak and have been supported by tape. Otherwise, this beautiful volume is in near-mint condition. It was published in 1922. We cannot overemphasize the importance and beauty of the volume. Its pictures stagger the imagination. The authors knew at this early time that the old field marshal would literally hand over the Vaterland to the WWI corporal and this is reflected even in the first pages where the ceremony at the Potsdam Garnisonkirche is covered in detailed text and pictures. Full-page color plates and superlative black-and-white photos abound. This is clearly a treasure trove of historical importance dealing with WWI and the early NSDAP.

WWI Soldier Album (Item KBOOK 1-7)

DESCRIPTION:A whopping 159 pictures all on postcard-sized stock. All original (no copies). Pictures from the trenches, fortifications, many officers and enlisted men, sailors, infantrymen, Austrian and German. There are church services in the cathedral and in the field, weapons, liberated villages, cannon, the enemy dead, the honored dead of the German Army, addresses by important leaders to the troops, Christmas scenes at the front, a great picture of soldiers doing reenactment of 16th century sequence at a castle. On the last two pages are pictures of a Hitler Youth Detachment that is shown under a WWI army detachment right above. It can only be surmised that this is a set of photos are from the previous owner showing himself and his comrades in the picture and, above, the picture of his father and his Kameraden. The last page contains 3 photos of WWII officers (one is Luftwaffe). This might carry the assumption that one of them might be the lad's father now in the Wehrmacht and possibly relatives of the family who served their country. The album is 100 percent complete and the pictures fine and all historically important. The album measures 9 x 11 inches and is about 1 inch thick. We have never seen or heard of a better WWI archival collection. This is GREAT PLUS! The price is less than $4 each per photo and many, many of this type photo bring $10 to $15 each at shows and the web.

Huge Book Die Grosse Zeit (Item KBOOK 1-9)

DESCRIPTION:The Great Time, this big volume is 13 x 10 inches and almost 2 inches thick. It is the second volume only of a set. Unfortunately the first volume is missing and if it is anything like this one it must have been a dandy because this one is a winner! It consists of 648 pages with great black-and-white pictures, but it is the full-page color illustrations that are so very impressive. Some people who would buy this book would remove these color pages and frame them, thereby getting much, much, more money out of them than the book will ever bring, but that's not me. I'll leave this archival treasure just as it is and take far less for it, but I'm that much a preservation nut, I guess. Anyway, it is a really wonderful and deserves to be preserved in my opinion so we need you to purchase it and enjoy it as we did. It was put together in Berlin in 1920 as a remembrance of the greater incidents and deeds of valor in what otherwise was a horrible, bloody war followed by another five times as horrible.

Album from the 2nd Company of the Gardeschutzen Battalions (Item KBOOKS 1-10)

DESCRIPTION: This album was at one time very beautiful and, except for the spine, still is. It is the service album given to one of its members as his service time ended in 1910. Under the royal cipher of the regiment on the front are the dates of training-1908-1910. The pictures are very professionally done as would be expected belonging to such a regiment and battalion that drew from royalty, subroyalty, and many of the sons of landed gentry, as well. There are only 17 pages of pictures mostly 8 ¼ x 6 inches with a few smaller photos of officers and a front piece of the officer who owned the album and a photo of him with two Kameraden in special dress uniforms. The pictures are permanently affixed within special framing that is double sided. The problem is the spine. The cloth is completely pulled away thus freeing the pages. Obviously the maker didn't realize that the opening and inspecting of these heavy pages would tear up that spine in almost a hundred years of use. The album would be well worth having rebound as it is one stunning photo-history treasure. The photography is sensational for the age from which it emerges. We have never seen finer!

PRICE: $395.00; a super bargain.

A Magnificent Postcard Album of the Prussian Crown Prince (Item KBOOKS 1-11 & KPHOTO 2-8 & KHISTORY 1-12)

DESCRIPTION: This album is filled with 81 postcards all depicting the Prussian Crown Prince Wilhelm (1882-1951) and his family. Many poses of the handsome Prince in various outfits -- civilian and hunting uniforms and civilian and hunting clothing. There are also many pictures of his beautiful wife Cecillle (1886- 1954). She was the crown Princess of Prussian. Also pictured together with their father and mother and individually are their children, Prince Wilhelm of Prussia, Prince Louis Ferdinand, Prince Hubertus, Prince Fredrich, Princess Alexandrine, and Princess Cecille. The album measures 8" x 5" and is about 1 ½ inches thick. The album cover has a picture of the crown Prince in equestrian pose. The postcards are 5 ½" x 3 ½" in size. All the cards have titles painted on them. This is especially handy when it comes to identifying the children. Every one of the 81 cards is in immaculate condition and every one of them are of great historical interest and extremely scarce! The picture of the Princess Cecille with German soldiers and their officers is especially charming and she has her three sons with her dressed in their sailor suits. The dashing Prince is featured repeatedly throughout the album as soldier and family man.

The album was procured at a 2009 military show from an older gentleman who said he collected the pictures for years and treasured them because his father was a gardener for the crown Prince at Potsdam and Berlin. The Prince was a noble member of the Hohenzollern Dynasty and probably he and his good wife were possibly the most photogenic of all the German Royalty. We have never seen such a great assemblage of pictures of this family before in all our years in this field. The absolute charm that emanates from the little album is immediately noticed when one opens the covers; every card is reminiscent of the days of glory and Teutonic splendor. We have pictured here only a few of the cards as space allows, but to choose ‘the best of them’ would be virtually impossible -- they are all in a word, ‘Great.’

PRICE: $1,215.00 This adds up to only $15 a card and many of them would easily fetch $20-$30 each at a postcard show.

Das Buch Der Kaiserin Auguste Victoria Printed in 1927 (Item KBOOKS 1-12)

DESCRIPTION: The book is 255 pages and except for a small stain on the cover is in great condition. Tthe whole book is in A-1 condition. It has several full page brilliant black and white photo pictures depicting various stages of the life of the Empress from infancy to her death and state funeral. It is fortunate that neither the Kaiser nor his good Lady ever saw what the Western leaders and their Communist chums did to their beloved land and people. They were good and noble rulers, strongly God fearing and always concerned with the good of the German and European people. The Empress was a particularly kind and gentle woman who bore five fine sons and a beautiful daughter for her devoted husband. This is a particularly rare book and an archival treasure. Measures 8 ½ x 11 ¼ inches and is an inch thick. Historically important!
