| DESCRIPTION: Here, once more, Germania International marches forward far beyond all the competition and “forum fools,” and we have procured one of the most important historical objects of the Third Reich. This is a genuine film projector that was used by the Hitler Youth in its leadership-training program. The projectors, limited in number, were provided by the AMT (WS) for units that had an HJ projector program. The projector came complete to a unit for 100 Reichsmarks. Offices and persons outside the HJ could order the HJ projector as long as they agree to make the equipment available at any time to the relevant HJ unit. They were closely monitored. The projectors were developed by the AMT (WS) as an important tool for educational work. The Stabsleiter ordered that each Hitler Youth headquarters’ home was to have one. So it was therefore necessary that for each HJ leader and each Mädel leader to learn how to use this important educational tool, and to work with party and government offices to secure a projector for the locations there was always an order observed that by order of the Reichskassenverwalter that these precious projectors were to be inventoried and kept secure. Each educational filmstrip was purchased for one Reichsmark from the sales office of the “Verwaltungsmt der Reichsjugendfuhrung,” payment with the order. There were many historical themes glorifying German history and the story, purpose, and agenda of the National Socialist movement. All filmstrips used in the educational program for the Hitler Youth carried the subtitle ‘filmstrips for usage! Much more information about this advanced program and about the use of the projectors and the worldview educational agenda can be seen by using your favorite search engine using “Hitler Youth Worldview Educational Material.” There is a concise translation of the original archival material here and it goes into the use of the very projector that we offer here. The absolute rarity of this machine in this great condition goes almost without saying. We do not know of any dealer or website where one of these projectors and filmstrips was ever offered before. This is absolutely an incredible find considering the very considerable historical importance of the item. Here before your eyes is the very essence of what National Socialism was about; the political themes, history, the proud German past, hopes for the youth, the ferocity and evil of Germany's enemies, etc. You see before you what Germany's youth perceived, and from the original source, the original equipment. This transcends all the gasmasks, sleeve titles, medals, helmets, and offers the buyer the ultimate in German culture. The youth movement was what it was all about after all! Need we say more? We have presented nearly 60 pictures of this projector and its accouterments for you to view that will include pictures of the storage case plus pictures of the projector and parts when packed in the case. The electric system was changed by the former collector-owner so that it can be used in the American system. You can see the new electrical plug and in one of the pictures you can see the old European plug that was saved with several other accouterments in some of the last pictures. Along with the projector are 13 training filmstrips—12 of them in their respective boxes—with the names of a particular subject on each, and also the insignia of the Hitler Youth and the words “Bildband für die Schulung in der Hitlerjugend,” “Picture edition for the schooling in the HJ.” We have provided pictures of the lenses, instructions on the case lid, and in the corner of the case is a contraption with a cage-like appearance. Was this a speaker? For a sound attachment? This we do not know, but we could not remove it from its corner compartment. In addition to the training films there is another canister that says in English “Valve operating mechanism” and inside is another filmstrip that has some further instructions. I guess this is used if one wanted to get deep into the use of all the equipment including the cage-like thing. There are also two short filmstrips without cassettes that appear to be some private footage having to do with the original HJ lad who last had the kit before the end of the war. We have to the best of our ability also taken a couple of pictures directly from the film rolls. You can just imagine how many hundreds of informative and interesting pictures can be seen from this amazing outfit. Note the pictures of the ancient Germanic tribes. There is a whole strip on this subject. The collector that we purchased this from went a step further and he actually copied some of the projections to 6 x 4-inch snapshots with his camera. We show 15 of these here. Mind you, these were photographed from screen projections and the originals, when projected, are many times more clear and crisp. There are also about eight or nine printed explanation sheets measuring 3 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches containing several pages each that give an explanation of some of the pictures on the filmstrips. These are in rather used and a little-bit-abused condition having been used by the HJ on a very regular basis. The buyer would be advised to take these original sheets and blow them up on a copy machine to preserve the material in copies or in a computer file. There is a vast wealth of historical material here for the museum, advanced collector, or researcher. So here offered is what we think to be one of the most historically important offerings to come along in years, both as a prestigious cultural relic and also an educational experience right from the original source with the original equipment. The projector works fine and that alone is astounding. Don't miss this possibly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an original piece of paramount importance to contemporary history. Here are some of the subjects as listed on the tubes of film: 1. “Von der Alten zur Neun armee” 2. “Deutschen Weihnachten” 3. “Deutsche jengeits des gronzen” 4. “So leben unsere varfahren” 5. “Land der grenze” 6. “Erbkrankor Nachwuchs” 7. “Sudenten Deutschtum” 8. “Versailles und reiches” 9. “Erbkranker” 10. “Ostmark des Deutschen Reichs” 11. “Gefunde familie, gefundes volk” 12. “5,000 Jahre Germanentum” PRICE: $2,850.00; nothing! compared to its rarity and importance |

Reich Party Days Souvenir Knife (Item ; YOUTH 8-2; PARTEI 3-14) |
||||||||||
| DESCRIPTION: Here is a very rare Hitler Youth-style knife as would be purchased as a souvenir of the rallies at old Nuremberg. They came in two styles: one with stag grip as shown on page 587 of Tom Johnson’s book, German Daggers of World War II. The other is with the black Bakelite grips in the standard HJ style, but without the Hitler Youth diamond or enamel set in the grip and, of course, this knife is smaller than the full-sized HJ Fahrtenmesser. The other difference is that the one in Johnson’s book has no maker, while this one we offer has the clear, distinct mark of the E&F Hörster Co. in Solingen. Over the years the leather retaining strap has shrunk and cannot be closed. Other than that this prodigiously rare little knife is in wonderful condition with a practically mint blade that shows tiny specks of minor surface rust. The felt grommet is still there between the blade and cross guard. The letters are still clear as are the eagle and Nuremberg symbol (crest). The scabbard retains its original paint. All in all this is an extremely rare example of one of the rarest edged weapons of the Third Reich and certainly the most interesting. The length of the knife in its scabbard is 8 1/4 inches; the blade is 4 1/2 inches long. This is just a great little HJ and party rally gem.
PRICE: $1,400.00; very rare |

Prototype HJ Leader Dagger??? or Reproduction??? (Item YOUTH 8-3) |
||||||||||||||
| DESCRIPTION: This great-looking dagger came our way while in Germany. Germania does not knowingly sell reproductions, but we also hasten to add that we can be fooled regardless of how long we have been at this field. We found this in an antique flea-market setting in Nuremberg a few months ago. We bought it for what seemed like a bargain price and it did seem to be very-well made. Not like the laughable repros out there, today. So, if someone identities this as a repro or fantasy piece and can back up what they allude we will certainly change the category. In the meantime we will offer it as a possible prototype of the Solingen manufactory. If it were such it would be a Hitler Youth leader’s dagger prototype since it has the distinctive diamond of the Hitler Jugend on the top of the pommel. Could it have been for a youth group in one of the countries allied with Germany which wanted its leaders’ dagger to be different from the German one? The scabbard bands are similar to the government officials’ or diplomatic corps’ daggers. The chain suspension is like onto the Luftwaffe 1st model dagger. The scabbard is similar to the army dagger. There the resemblance ends. The cross guard is like no other as is the clip that the chains emit from. The maker is Gustav Voss with a logo that we can’t make out because of the positioning of the Languet. It is definitely high-quality workmanship throughout. We would think if it turns out to be an actual HJ prototype it will be worth a small fortune, but be that as it may, since we just don’t know we will offer it with price based on what we paid for it. However, we have honestly stated what we know and don’t know, so please understand that our usual money-back guarantee is suspended in this case and the person buying it is given notice that there will be no returns on this piece under the circumstances and description. Having been advised, if it turns out to be a replica (it would surprise us), but “you pays your penny and you takes your chance.” There are persons out there who collect fine replicas also. For whatever purpose you buy it you will be getting your money’s worth whatever way it goes. But maybe you will be very fortunate after all??? The following statement is from the late James P. Atwood, the author of the book, The Daggers and Swords of Hitler’s Germany. He explains something about prototypes of Third Reich pieces. The reader may wonder about the considerable number of prototype pieces presented. With so many thousands of blades already produced in such varying designs, it does at first note appear strange that there should have been such extensive effort toward new models. However, when we reflect for a moment upon the economic significance of the blade industry, together with the fact that the wearing of special daggers had become a status symbol among the Party faithful and sub-bureaucrats, it becomes apparent that the sword and dagger trade could only expand. The whole art of edged weaponry was being revived, and new craftsmen and designers were being trained. Firms were in fierce competition to have their patented designs accepted by organizations newly authorized. These organizations might want a special dagger or sword, and functionaries and organizations having earlier authorized models were sometimes a bit envious of the designs approved for the newcomers to the upper strata. Consequently, a surprisingly large number of new designs and prototype pieces have survived to find their way into collections. So with the above in mind we offer this magnificent-looking dagger in the hopes, but not the assurance, that it was another of the prototypes manufactured in Solingen. If you realize that there are collectors out there who will even relish a good reproduction or fantasy piece you will probably realize we are offering it at a truly reasonable price.
PRICE: $2,650.00; if it turns out to be a prototype, it’s worth many times this price |
