Stahlhelm members who joined the SA–NSDAP (image not part of sale)

Das Stahlhelm--und Vaterlands--Liederbuch (The Steel Helmet and Fatherland Songbook) (Item MILSONGBOOK 1-7)

DESCRIPTION: Here is a great military songbook that was issued to men of the greatest and bravest of the German Nationalist organizations. It has a dedication within the front cover that presents it from the personal collection of a man named Werner Lorenz to a friend Gerhard Fischer on Christmas 1930. Therefore, we think it possible that the book also was issued within that very turbulent time. Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten ("Steel Helmet, League of Front Soldiers"), also known in short form as Der Stahlhelm banded together and rose up after Germany’s defeat in WWI. It was one of the many paramilitary organizations that was organized to protect the Deutsches Vaterland! At first, it was part of the “Black Reichswehr” (“Schwarze Reichswehr”) and in the days of the ill-fated Weimar Republic it operated as the armed branch of the National Conservative German National People’s Party and functioned as armed security guards (Saalshutz). For the most part it was oriented in loyalty to the former Hohenzollern regime; at least in its true outlook. Its goals were in favor of reestablishing the Imperial Monarchy, but when this became unlikely it preferred a German dictatorship. So when Hitler’s “Machtergreifung” (seizure of power) came along many former Freikorps and Stahlhelm members flocked to the swastika and became SA and SS members. On April 27, 1933, Stahlhelm leader Franz Seldte officially declared the Stahlhelm subordinate to Hitler’s command and took on the name of Nationalsozialistischer Deutsche Frontkampferbund. (League of National Socialist Frontline Fighters) and many of them merged into the SA as “Wehrstahlhelm” reserve # 1 and reserve # 2. The book is in great condition measuring 6 ½ x 5 inches with 96 pages of the favored patriotic songs of the Reich such as the Stahlhelm songs known as “Bundeslied,” "Stahlhelmlied,” “Frontsoldatenlied,” and a song you will never see in any other songbook, the rare “Wehrwolflied”. This one celebrates the tough troopers who came out of the Stahlhelm and graduated to the ranks of the Freikorps who slugged it out with the Red Front and other Communist factions and overwhelmed them. For the most part, they took no prisoners. The book has many inspiring songs that were sung by the brave, the true nationalists who proclaimed Deutschland, Deutschland über alles, und im Unglück nun erst recht! (Germany, Germany over all, and misfortune to its adversaries). There are some neat, little drawings that accompany some of the songs all of an extreme nationalist nature. Overall, this is a rare inspirational Germanic and Teutonic gem. There are no more out there my friends. Make this one yours for a pittance of its true worth.
