Book Paris deutsch gesehen, Paris, Germany Looks (Item WEHR 24-1)

DESCRIPTION: This was a little book prepared by the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht in cooperation with the “Kraft Durch Freude” organization for distribution to German soldiers in liberated France. It was issued to a soldier by the name of Härder, whose mailing number was “26843,” and the front cover has the official stamp of the commandant of the greater Paris general German staff. The pass and book was presented to him June 10, 1942. Basically, it is a tour-guide book to all the historically important sights to see in the great city. It’s considered quite scarce, today. It’s loaded with great pictures of Napoleon’s tomb, Versailles, Notre Dame, the Paris Opera House, Eiffel Tower, etc. There is a famous picture of the Führer and his entourage visiting the tomb of Napoleon. This is a great little collectable and measures about 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.

Boy’s Game Sturmpioniere, Combat Engineers (Item WEHR 24-2)

DESCRIPTION: This is a 100-percent complete German circa WWII board game. Make no mistake; this is a period WWII item. It is utterly incredible that it is all there with the little lead soldiers, tanks, etc., intact! There are several game boards that seem to assemble into one large planning table assembly. The box, which is in tiptop shape, has the instructions in its lid along with pictures of the engineers in action. Every piece, including the dice, is there. This is certainly a rarity to have such a beautiful game with such color and art themes in (perfect) condition after 67 or so years. This is a truly typical example of the proud German military tradition. You can see this plainly in the cover at with the sacred standards, important combat badges, and pictures of Germany’s warrior elite in action. This is a beautiful illustration of the German national eagle mounted on the sword of Siegfried, ribbon of the Iron Cross, oak and olive leaves, and the engineer standard as depicted. This is just a great relic of the noble time.

PRICE: $700.00; very reasonable

There are 60 drawings with the cover illustration and the great little book was published about 1942 by the Luftwaffe leadership staff I c/VIII in Königsberg. It measures 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches; sort of a pocket edition. It’s in great shape and is a nice addition to the WWI collection. No Picassos here!—only true western art.

Deutsches Kreuz, the German Cross in Gold (Item WEHR 24-5)

DESCRIPTION: Here is a fine example of this highly coveted award by C.E. Junker of Berlin. It has the five-rivet-fastener construction on its back with the numeral ‘2’ on the pin. It has the extra-fine detailing to the leaves surrounding the swastika and the 1941 date is larger—bolder—than other manufacturers’, as it should be. It’s known that the construction of these Deutsche Kreuz was much more involved than any of the other decorations of the Reich. This one demonstrates all those good features that have now come to be known today. The condition of this piece is extremely “good,” in not excellent. All tests have been passed and the article has passed with flying colors! This is a very beautiful award probably the greatest-looking heroism award of the Second World War. Information about the requirements for winning it and its history are available on the internet in varied places. This is an important addition to any advanced collection.

PRICE: $2,800.00

Group of Toy or Model Soldiers (Item WEHR 24-9; KTOY 1-6)

DESCRIPTION: This is a great group of model soldiers that might or might not have been toys. We are not sure of when they were made, but they are old. They could be from the post-WWI period all the way up into the 1930s. They are the various soldier types from Frederick the Great’s army up to the Franco-Prussian War, Hussars grenadiers, bandsman, and an Uhlan, a spike-helmet-wearing Landser, and the young Frederick himself on horseback. The figures bear no markings as to manufacturer. Each is generally about 5 inches tall. The soldiers seem to be some sort of composition material not unlike the elastolin figures. They look to be out of a mold, but then hand painted. They are truly great examples of the early German toymaker’s art. The group displayed all together is very impressive, indeed. Imagine these handsome figures on display in your home or office. This is a great grouping, indeed, and is sold as a group.

PRICE: $485.00; for all

Pair of Panzer Shoulder Boards for the Rank of Lieutenant (Item WEHR 24-10)

DESCRIPTION: The pink Waffenfarbe (color) of the piping on the underlay of black indicates the tank corps, or “Panzers.” The boards are in excellent shape except that the attachment strips are missing. They look to have been purposely removed. This was often done when the wearer intends to put them on a leather jacket. These are rather scarce and 100 percent original WWII era.

German World War II Photo Album (Item WEHR 24-13)

DESCRIPTION: This is quite a good album from a German veteran who served on the Russian front in World War II. The album cover is of itself a great collectible. It seems it is Mediterranean Moroccan leather with a (Stalhelm) helmet on the left corner and the words “Kriegserinnerungen” for “war remembrances.” The album shows the German landsers in all phases of their front-line activity even to canoeing on the Masurian Lakes; clowning around as soldiers do, officers, Russian peasants, Russian prisoners, landscapes, destroyed houses, and bridges. There is a rare picture of Russian female soldier prisoners being marched to the compound. There is a search scene where red commissars are being searched for and there are several good snapshot portraits of soldiers close up. That may or may not be the original owner of the album. There are 111 pictures most of which are directly connected to the early days of the war in the East.

PRICE: $235.00

German Mine Marker Flags (set of two) (Item WEHR 24-15)

DESCRIPTION: These are the flags that are placed in the ground to mark the location of landmines of the German army mine crews. After each little flag with a skull danger pennant is placed, a cord connects them all. After the whole minefield is laid out this cord is pulled in. All the flags are withdrawn in one fell swoop. The flag staffs are with fittings so that if height is needed along the way the staffs fit together tightly. This gives the needed height. These are rather rare today and seldom are they offered. They usually came in a bag of 12 to a full complement, but even individually, they are rare!
