Book Gebirgsjäger erleben Serbien und die Ukraine, The Mountain Troops Experience in Serbia and the Ukraine (Item WEHR 17-2) |
| DESCRIPTION:Here is a book that chronicles entirely the war in the east as wage4d by the elite German Mountain Troops. It was published by the Bruckmann Verlag in Munich for the XVIII Gerbirs Division. The pictures in sepia tone are phenomenal examples of the capability of combat photographers of the German Army. Although there re pictures of native people at work and play, most of the photos re of the troopers. The pages are not numbered, but the book is 1 inch thick so there must be well over a hundred full-page pictures; some half page, all fine photographic studies of the eastern campaign before its tragic end. Here are the troops, the equipment, the allies, the Russian prisoners, the liberated peoples, their reaction against the communist murderers, and the graves of the red communist butchers. There is a great picture of the toppled statue of Lenin, similar to the scene of the wanton destruction of the statue of Saddam Hussein. This, however, pictured here is an omnipresent statue that is a communist sculpture destroyed by anticommunists. The Saddam statue was destroyed by people who probably were communists. In any case, history goes on, right or wrong.

Das Heers Chaplain’s Dress Dagger (Item WEHR 17-3) |
| DESCRIPTION:This may solve a long-time mystery in our dagger field. Here is a dagger with a deep purple or plum coloring on the grip. There has been much doubt about First Model Railway daggers and Tom Johnson has said that they resemble army daggers in every way except for the grip that would be in a distinctive Purple or black. See page 119 in Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich, Volume 1, by LTC Thomas M. Johnson. Now a dagger has come our way out of Germany that has been identified as the dress dagger of a chaplain of the Deutsches Heers, (German Army). It is to be remembered that a chaplain, Catholic or Protestant, is basically a German officer wearing the identical German officer’s uniform with purple piping and sometimes a Christian cross on the cap, plus purple piping on collar tabs and shoulder boards. No one up to now has seen an example of a special dagger for chaplains. Actually, a chaplain does not carry weapons, but an army dagger is actually not a weapon, but an accoutrement of dress. Does it seem strange? It is not strange at all. Really, when one remembers the words of Jesus, “Do not think I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” so, the dagger or sword is not foreign to the ecumenical at all and it is for sure that this piece of German army officer’s dress accoutrement would not be shunned and in the case of this particular chaplain officer, it was obviously proudly worn. The grip is a bright purple of plum color; absolutely stunning, and the dagger is in beautiful condition throughout. The grip fits exactly as it should and the information comes from an excellent German source. So, as far as we are concerned this may just dispel the First Model railway thing that has always been questionable as far as any purple-grip dagger that has ever shown up. There has only been a handful that have shown up over the years. The maker on this dagger also is rare and very few have ever surfaced: “Aschüttelhoffer & Co.” in the Solingenwald, Solingen Forest. Its logo is crossed horses over the word “Asso. ” This is an extremely and beautiful rare dagger.

Book Infanterie im Osten, Infantry in the East (Item WEHR 17-8) |
| DESCRIPTION: “Here they are, the queen of battle.” The infantry and the world have never seen any “grunts” as tough and heroic as the Deutsches Landser. This was admitted even by his foes, he was by far the best of all the combatants of WW II, and if not for superior delivery of equipment and supply as enjoyed by the Brits, Americans, and Ruskies, the German soldier would have whipped them all even though outnumbered; often 20 to 1. Fritz was a fighting machine not seen since the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae. This book chronicles the bravery and turpitude of those noble fighters on the eastern front before the tragedy at Stalingrad. The book was printed in 1942 in Berlin. It comprises 240 pages; mostly pictures. There are 43 pages of text chronicling the early battles of a war that Europe fought alone against the evils of communism, a battle that should have been joined by the whole of the west including the Americans and British. Because we did not join with them we will yet see what will be a horrible continuum of WW II. The book is replete with amazingly clear photography of these warriors of the west as they try to pull down the malignant cancer known as international Bolshevism. Weapons, equipment, tanks, planes, dead Russians, cavalry, and the basic, but glorious infantry fill the dramatic pages of this great volume. Infantry in the East, 9 x 12 inches and almost an inch thick. The dust cover is the original!

Book Soldat und Vaterland (Item WEHR 17-9) |
| DESCRIPTION: This is one of the finest books we have ever seen on the complete history of the German Army for 300 years. It portrays incidents from the Battle of Fehrbellin in June, 1675, up through the wars of Frederick the Great in the 1700’s and on through the Franco-Prussian War to WW I and to the eve of WW II and the seizure of power by the NSDAP and the Wehrmacht. The company Verlagsandstalt and Major Dr. Kurt Hesse were absolutely fastidious about the selection of pictures because they are among the best, the most crystal clear, and photography superior that we have ever seen in one volume. The images are in large 10 x 12 format and over 1 inch thick. The condition is wonderful with the original dust cover. This book, almost 68 years old, it can be said to be ‘amazing’ that this dust cover is even there. It has a few nicks and tears, but the book itself is almost in mint condition. There are 345 historically important pictures and 15 important maps. We sort of repeat ourselves, but this book is a downright treasure for the true Germanophile. You could not find better; pricey, perhaps, but the very best.

Book Deutsche Soldaten(Item WEHR 17-10; SA 7-3) |
| DESCRIPTION: This book, German Soldiers from the Front Army and Free Corps to the Reichwehr to the New German Armed Forces was printed in Leipzig and is composed of 268 pages; mostly pictorial. It chronicles in text and photos the history of Germany’s proud military tradition from 1914 to 1935, with the rise of the Deutsches Wehrmacht: Army, Navy, and fledgling Air Force. The pictures are all sharp and clear glossy stock. The pages are filled with some of the greatest photography you will ever see. Much of the book traces the bloody armed struggle of the Freikorps against the Spartacists and other red rabble in Berlin, Munich, and throughout the Reich. Some of the pictures of corpses of the reds and heroes both are rather gruesome. The pictures of the new German fighting machine are some of the best we have ever seen (wonderful). The book measures 9 x 12 inches and almost an inch thick. It is in great shape with the tiniest of wear along the spine. This book contains historically important and photographically excellent content.
