Waffen SS Ring

Waffen SS Ring

 Waffen-SS (Item WAF 1-4)

DESCRIPTION: This ring is in the traditional SS setting of art-deco design and stamped 835 inside. The unique feature is that the SS runes are 3-dimensional rising above the enamel or Bakelite rectangular inset-and it is an inset. This ring is not the typical Allgemeine-SS style leading us to believe it was a jeweler-handmade piece for the Waffen-SS. This is a rather striking example of German WWII craftsmanship.

WAFFEN- CHARLEMAGNE DIVISION RING (Item WAF 1-8)

DESCRIPTION: This Waffen- ring may have been used by other Waffen- units, but the information we received when the original of this ring was purchased in Germany was that this was the ring most used by members of the Sturmbataillon Charlemagne, the French volunteers who ably demonstrated their fiber as soldiers and human beings in a series of hopeless engagements on the eastern front against vastly superior (in number) enemy forces. They considered themselves in the vanguard of the European army that was the Waffen- in the battle for western civilization. Almost two thirds of these French troops died on the battlefield or in captivity and yet they are today still the victims of the relentless hate campaign against the Waffen- and its soldiers that is still propagated by both the free world and the still-healthy Soviet system. No work of prose, no words of praise, no exaggerated hyperbole could possibly do justice to the heroism and dedication of these warriors. The saga of the French Waffen- speaks for itself and let it be forever remembered as a triumph of the human spirit engaged in noble endeavor! Let this ring be at least a small memorial to their memory. The ring is in pure silver. They are marked ‘835’ inside as this is the fine grade of silver that this renowned silversmith worked in. Almost all the foreign volunteer rings including the POA and Falange were produced by this man and in some cases the cap insignia, but only the ones in silver such as for the Italian SS and others such as the Czech-Deutsch volunteers. There is an officer’s model with a black-enamel top and the plain silver enlisted personal type. Instead of the usual Germanic oak-leaf design, they have some other floral design; perhaps French in artistic intent. This is very nice, rather plain, but artistically good.

PRICE: Officer's ring, $750.00

LAH Victory Ring (Item WAF 4-1)

DESCRIPTION: This is the most beautiful ring of the Third Reich. It is fully enameled. These rings were crafted for the Waffen- , army, navy, and air force and were never officially issued, although battlefield pickups were actually noted. The rings were designed basically the same, but for the central design, which would be different as to branch of service. There was a special one for the -Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler (LAH). The rings were mostly found in April 1997 at the Stuttgart Military Show. National Socialist and military rings, pendants, medallions, etc. were bought. Wagner, Wilm, Deshler and other smaller shops represented. Many of the items left on the workbenches of these shops were prototypes and these victory rings were in that category. Evidently, a few were somehow released, but the greater part were in the planning stage. However, several of each, except for the Luftwaffe ones, were scooped up and thus we were able to buy them many years later at Stuttgart. We know that there was a model for the Luftwaffe. Evidently a few must have been released because we have heard from e-mail correspondents that a relative brought home a specimen of these Victory Rings. But for the most part this group we have is the only large and complete cache of them ever found. When we bought this cache of treasures we had to buy it all including many baubles that had nothing whatever to do with the NSDAP or Wehrmacht. There were wedding rings of the , but civil examples, as well. The were also cameo brooches, religious crucifixes, etc. The great thing about it was that these companies were contracted to produce, repair, and design jewelry for famous personages such as Himmler, Goring, Gaulieter Wagner, etc., and there were some fantastic items recovered and purchased by me and two German dealers. Of all the Third-Reich rings that were acquired the victory rings are by far the most beautiful and stunning. They would have been issued to generals, field marshals, and Knights-Cross winners had the war ended in victory for the Reich. This particular ring is the only victory ring where a variation of the SS logo was allowed. Instead of the runes of the Waffen-, the "key" of the -Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler is featured in the shield. These rings will be considered the most rare and sought-after pieces of Third Reich memorabilia. They are at this point in time available to the entrepreneur or collector, but severely limited in number. This is the chance to purchase one of the finest and most beautiful of all Reich relics.

PRICE: $1,200.00

Incredibly, we were able to purchase another one out of Germany. Although we sold the last one several years ago and thought we would never see another one, miracles sometimes occur and we are very fortunate to be able to offer this beautiful and extremely rare ring, and you will be exceptionally fortunate to have this opportunity to acquire it. This is in all probability the last time one will ever be offered anywhere. The size is about 10 1/2 (U.S.). It was worn after the war and shows some wear and tarnish, but is in excellent condition.

Skull Ring (Item WAF 5-12; WEHR 19-12)

DESCRIPTION: This is a ring that may well be a “West Wall ring.” This style, among other motifs, was commonly worn by soldiers of the West Wall (Siegfried Line). The angle of the skull, unlike so many skull-decorated rings of the German services, looks to the left when viewed. This is why we feel that it might be the style for the Waffen-SS. Note in our pictures that the SS skulls of the second type look to the left and are very definitely not looking straight at you. The floral design at the sides is usual on West Wall rings. The ring probably was not exclusive for the SS, but there is a probability that because of its design it may well have been favored by them. This is a good-looking elite-forces ring, in any case.

SS-Wiking Division Ring (Item WAF 6-10)

DESCRIPTION: Here is the genuine Wiking Division ring. We have all seen the “fantasy Viking ring,” that ugly, grimacing Norseman with the evil, clenched teeth, and the round shields with sun wheel swastika and ‘SS’ on the sides. This was first produced in Taiwan and marketed by a company known as Delta International in California as early as the 1960s and still, people get stuck with them for good money. Today, you could even get a high-officer’s version in 14-karat gold (no SS ring was even made in gold). Our Wiking ring also has a Viking chief as the central design, but he has a kinder, gentler countenance. The sides bear the SS runes; one to each side. The ring is in genuine silver, of course, and the detail is great. The Wiking Division goes down in the annals of WWII as one of the finest of the Waffen-SS elite groups. It took part in most of the bloody battles that raged in the east. It was an SS Panzer grenadier division under the command of its own officers. It fought on the eastern front until July 1943, when it returned to Finland and was disbanded, but reinstated and in July 1944, the German summer offensive against Russia was launched in the Kursk-Kharkov sector with the Viking Division making one the deepest penetrations. It was eventually caught in the Cherkassy pocket. Wiking was the only armored division in the trap and therefore was the spearhead of the assault to break out. Although many German troops did escape because of Viking’s brave and noble action, including the Belgian Knight’s Cross winner, the famous Léon Degrelle, the Wiking Division lost all its armor, all its equipment, and half of the personnel, as the savage Russian troops advanced. Some survivors of the bloodied Wiking Division were formed into a 4,000-man Kampfgruppe and sent back to the straining, horrible front. It put up a hell of a fight. Even though the fighters had no heavy weapons and not even enough rifles to arm all the soldiers. The remainder of the survivors was transferred to Poland where they served as a nucleus for a completely refitted division on February 18, 1944. For further information on this illustrious battle group you can put in “SS Wiking Div” on Google or other search engines. It was the crème de la crème of elite warriors. Wiking was at all times composed of various foreign volunteers fighting alongside their German brothers for Europe. The division contained full regiments of Dutch, Flemings, Norwegians, and Danes, as well as Swiss, Finns, Swedes, Estonians, Wallonians, and divisional replacement were drawn from Volksdeutsche in the Balkans and elsewhere. They were some of the best of the best and they fought and died for the European heartland and surely they did not die in vain as they stopped the communist onslaught from completely overrunning Europe. The ring is a meaningful remembrance of this epic struggle.

PRICE:  $675.00. This is an exceptional bargain at this price.

Ring of the Götz von Berlichingen Waffen-SS, 17th Panzergranadier Division (Item WAF 6-12)

DESCRIPTION: The original Götz was a German knight, soldier of fortune, and sometime-robber baron. He was born around 1480 to a noble family at the Schloss Jagsthausen in Württemberg. He owned several other castles including the Schloss Hornburg located near the Necker River. Berlichingen was made famous by writer and poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1749-1832, who wrote a play based on his life. He first entered the service of Frederick I Margrave of Brandenburg Ansbach in 1498. He fought in the armies of holy Roman emperor Maximilian I seeing action in Burgundy, Lorraine, and in the Swabian, but by 1500, Berlichingen had left the service of Frederick and formed a company of mercenaries, hiring his services for various dukes, margraves, and barons for a fee. In 1508 he and his company fought for Albert IV, Duke of Bavaria. During the siege of the city of Lanshut, he lost his right arm to enemy cannon fire. He then had a prosthetic iron replacement made, which is still on display at the Schloss Jagsthausen. In spite of this Berlichingen continued his private wars; the main motive being money. Most of his battles were raids on the rich towns or merchant caravans and the occasional kidnapping for ransom of minor nobles. For all of this he was placed under an imperial ban and was only released from this by Emperor Maximilian when he paid 14,000 gulden. In 1516, Berlichingen and his company mounted a raid into Hesse capturing Philip IV, Count of Waldeck. For information on the Waldecks, see Item SS 25-1. A ransom of 8,400 gulden was paid for the safe return of the count. For this action he was again placed under the ban. In 1518, after this, there were countless battles after battles, wars after wars that this old warrior led troops in including his brilliant service (without pay) against the Ottoman Empire of Suleiman the Magnificent, in Hungary. This was service to Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, and in 1544 he was at the forefront of battle in the imperial invasion of France under Francis of France. He then finally returned to the Hornburg and lived out his days in relative peace. He died on 23 July 1562 in the castle at Horneck. Under the second ban, the bishop of Bamburg sent an emissary to Berlichingen’s castle and demanded his surrender and then came his famous reply: “Er kann mich im Arsche lecken!,” “He can kiss my ass.” This phrase went down in history, and today if you want to insult someone in Germany you do not sound out this phrase, but just say:“ Götz von Berlichingen.” That message is clear. The 17th SS Panzer Granadier Division was raised near Poitiers, France in October 1943. It was formed from scratch with the majority of its original cadre coming form replacement units and conscripts; many of Romanian extraction. The division was granted the honor title Götz von Berlichingen in honor and tradition of the toughest warrior knight of German history and they lived up to his fighting tradition in keeping with the saga of Götz and his prosthetic hand. The division’s emblem was the clenched iron fist. SS-Obersturmführer Otto Ringe oversaw the formation of the division with the newly appointed SS-Brigadeführer Werner Ostendorf taking command in January 1944. The division was placed under L XXX army corps, a part of the Generalfeldmarschall Gerd von Rundstedt’s Heersgruppe D. All of their fighting was against Americans in several engagements after the D-day invasion. This information can be found in lengthy reports by going into Google for a search. Regrettably they were accused of killing American wounded, but this was merely an accusation never proved; nor was anyone indicted or tried; however, it is certain that some of the troops of Götz von Berschlingen became victims of war crimes by the Americans. In 1976, the remains of about 200 men from the 1 Battalion 38 SS Regiment were found and positively identified and apparently murdered by troops from the U.S. 42nd Infantry Division and buried in a mass grave near Nuremberg. Most had been shot at very close range supporting the fact that a massacre had taken place. The division served honorably as German soldiers fighting for their fatherland and for Europe. The rings produced for this division are possibly all that exist to memorialize these young Spartans. The ring is massive and the original old warrior knight Götz would surely approve. It bears the shield that is exactly like the armored vehicle marking of the unit. The roundels on the side have the SS runes on one side and the swastika on the other. It is certainly the greatest-looking ring of the Third Reich and its fighting forces. Their honor was loyalty!

Ring of the Nordland Waffen-SS Panzergrenadier Division (Item WAF 8-8)

DESCRIPTION: This is one of the most beautiful rings produced. See About Our Rings and Silver Insignia. There were many contracts with companies that supplied various items to Waffen-SS and Allgemeine-SS units. This ring was just one of the pieces of jewelry produced. The ring bears the bent-arm (Sonnerad) swastika used by the Fifth SS Panzer Division Viking. That was for the most part made up of foreign volunteers from the Nordic countries. A Scandinavian volunteer regiment was pulled out of line to be used as the basis for a new division. The name of the division was to be “Nordland” made up at first with Norwegians and Danes, but later although Nordland carried the widest range of nationalities found in a single division, by the end of the war they had Danish, Hungarian, Dutch, Norwegian, Estonian, Finnish, French, Romanian, Spanish, Swedish, and even British volunteers. They either served in the division or had been attached to it. They fought valiantly against the red bastards known as Josef Tito's partisans; then from Leningrad to Narva, later East Prussia and Pomerania. They were major participants in fighting the red serpents in the Battle of Berlin on May 2, 1945. The commandant of the Defense Area Berlin gave the official order to end hostilities and 80,000 or so prisoners of war were marched east; most SS men, loyal to their oath, to their nation, and Führer, had either fought to the death or taken their own lives, a popular option considering the rumors circulating. Most of them would dare not perceive a world without National Socialism. Of the few brave man who reached the allied lines most were handed over to their respective countries and the leftists that were now in power and were tried as traitors by the real traitors, some serving prison time and some even receiving the death penalty. So ended the struggle of these million idealistic young Europeans to create an Imperium of the western world and crush international communism. The ring can be sort of a memorial to their bravery and ideals. It is truly a beautiful piece of jewelry in classical design. The original Sonnerad (sun symbol) swastika used by the Viking division was basically the same design except the arms did not curve back at the ends. This Nordland design is somewhat different. However, they also continued with the original Viking design except with the ring. You can note the curve-back at the hands of the curves. The shank of the ring is typical with designs reminiscent of the Nordic flower that is used in northern architecture and even in national costumes. The ring is struck in a ‘835’ silver and is so marked inside. This is a very handsome ring, and of course very historically important to the saga of the Waffen-SS. Wenn alle untreu warden, so bleiben treu doch wir!

Ring of the Finnish Volunteer Battalion of the Waffen SS Runes (Item WAF 12-1)

DESCRIPTION: This volunteer combat battalion of the Waffen SS saw action on the Eastern Front during WWII. Many Finns were already serving with the SS Divsion Wiking, but this battalion, formed in 1941, was staffed with Finnish officers and NCO's while Wiking was commanded by Germans. The battalion was made up of 1,200 Finnish volunteers who signed up to fight the Sovient Union for two years. After initial training in Vienna, the batalion was transferred to Stralsund in June 1941, and at the beginning of August, to the infantry barracks at Cross-Born, Pomerania for more training and where it was attached to SS Division Wiking. The battalion was sent to the Eastern Front in January 1942 forming the vanguard of the furthest south made by the Germans during the campaign, reaching the Grozny oil field in a heroic action, although badly outnumbered, but then were pushed back by the Reds. In May 1943, the battalion was transferred away from the Front, as the two years was at an end, and was disbanded in July 1943. Many members of the battalion wanted to further serve in the Waffen SS and they joined the SS Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadier Division Nordland or SS Standarte Kurt Eggers. The battalion was praised by many Waffen SS Commanders, even by Heinrich Himmler, for its combat performance. Himmler said, "Where a Finnish SS man stood, the enemy was always defeated." The ring is a smaller dimension style, but bold looking nonetheless. It has the eagle and swastika. The swastika, of course, was used as a symbol of Finland as the official national marking between 1918 and April 1, 1945 and it was used by the Finnish Air Force. So, it was only natural that the Finnish volunteers would have used the Germanic eagle with swastika as their symbol. The ring is in tip-top condition. This is a very rare ring.
