Hitler Bust by M. Ley (Item AH 20-1; ART 13-9; BRONZE 2-2) |
DESCRIPTION: This is one of the first bronze art pieces that we managed to purchase from stock that was maintained by a German company in Gleiwitz, on the outskirts of Berlin. The company name was “Bergwerks V. Hutten A6.” Go to Item ART 9-1 to see a narrative of how these fine sculptures were acquired. Hedwig Maria Ley was a woman sculptress, well known and accomplished in the period of the Third Reich. She enjoyed the sponsorship of Adolf Hilter himself after he saw a fine impression of Dietrich Eckhart, Hitler's friend and mentor. Her particular style is notable. The Hitler bust was said in party circles to be the best likeness of the Führer ever produced, even though Hitler favored the bust of himself by Ferdinand Lieberman. We know of this lady’s art and we realize she was among the best. In our extensive library we once had a picture of her sculpting the “Führerbuste.” If anyone has a good image and/or a biography of Frau Ley, we would appreciate it if they would help us out and educate us a bit further. The original bust we sold was in beautiful condition with only the plinth (base) replaced. Please read the narrative of how the Nuremberg eagles and standing Hitler statue were obtained. This bust measures 11 inches on the base. The bronze head by itself is about 7 inches high with a width ear to ear of 4 inches. The one we can procure today for you would be a perfect re-creation of the Maria Ley Hitler bust done in exactly the same manner as the original that we sold some time back. It would sell for the same price as the original and is 100 percent the quality.

Bust in Bronze of Adolf Hitler by Martin (Item AH 20-4; ART 13-11) |
DESCRIPTION: Pictured here is a very fine bust in genuine bronze of the German chancellor. This was one of the pieces recently discovered and virtually uncovered in the town of Gleiwitz, Poland, a community near the Polish border. The Kunstglass Company was famous throughout the Third Reich for being the foundry where most of the art bronzes of the Third Reich were produced. Please look at Item ART 9-1, the Bronze Nuremberg Eagles. You can read the story of how we found some of these wonderful bronzes. The company, Preussische Bergwerks v. Hutten, also produced the fine Hitler bust at Item ART 13-9. We were most fortunate to have the chance to purchase these treasured pieces. Note: If you will look at the plinth of this pictured bust you will see a white veinlike line. This is not damage; it’s the natural marbling in the granite. Also note that each plinth is different and we did have more than one of these busts. It you read the information Item ART 9-1, you will see that we had to have the plinths (bases) produced and mounted at another firm in Gleiwitz because the Bergwerk was a foundry and did not produce the base, but we managed to find the exact quarry people who had applied the bases for the bronzes of Hutten A.G. in the time of the Third Reich. It’s most important to note that some these were original bronze sculptures and only the bases are applied recently, but further note that the marble and granite are of the exact type as originally used by the same company that supplied them in the 1930s and 1940s. You will never find a finer original Hitler bust than these shown here and the one sculpted by the female artist, Ley, at Item ART 13-9, and the price is only a tenth of what other sites ask when they would have been fortunate enough to procure one. Hitler busts are rare and in this condition, spectacular! The busts were signed ‘Hans Martin,’ whom we understand was an accomplished artist in the city of Charlottenberg. Herr Martin certainly outdid himself with these masterful studies of Germany’s Führer. WE have shown in our accompanying images a few photographs of Hitler during several years of his life for your comparison. This is without a doubt one of the best of the “Führerbuste” ever offered. It measures about 12 inches tall. Unfortunatly, we sold the two originals we had some time ago and because we have so many requests for Hitler busts we have made arrangements to have a top-quality re-creation made of this bust that you can order and within a reasonable period of time we can procure one for you. The cost of making one of the re-created busts was practicaly equal to the price of the originals we had.

Hitler Print in Full Color (Item AH 20-5; ART 13-12) |
DESCRIPTION: Here is a great-looking print copied in special process from original that depicts in living color the young Hitler during the Kampfzeit (struggle for power). We recently found the original period print in Nuremberg, Germany, and we were struck by its natural depiction of Hitler in his early campaigning days—1920s and early 1930s. The likeness is phenomenal. This is so good that we will eventually have our artist in Germany do a copy for us and we will offer it in the section of our website at Art Executed by a German Master. Look in our listings under Third Reich. The future Führer is dressed in his ever-present brown shirt that became the standard of the movement. He wears the Sam Browne belt with brass buckle and cross strap. He wears the Iron Cross First Class that he was awarded for bravery while serving a courier in the WWI trench warfare. He also wears the swastika, NSDAP armband, and the eagle and swastika tiepin. The print can be ordered in two sizes: 16 x19 inches with a 2-inch-wide border, or 24 x 28 inches with 2 1/2-inch white border to the sides and 1 3/4 inch border at the top and bottom edges. We will sell them unframed, sent rolled in tube, ready for the frame of our choice. This is the very best Hitler picture we have encountered in many years. While our small supply lasts, the print process was very expensive!
PRICE: $68.00; for the smaller. $88.00; for the big one |

More views of the Above Hitler Print (Item AH 20-5a; ART 13-12a) |
DESCRIPTION: We just can’t get over the realism, depth, and artist’s perception of these prints so we went out and had a couple framed and they look fantastic. This is probably the best picture ever produced of the German Führer before he was the Führer. The framed ones can be available, but are hard to ship; but it can be done. The large one is 36 x 30 1/2 inches in the frame. The actual print size is 19 x 24 1/2 inches. The beautiful frame looks like burled mahogany with gold-leaf edges. The small print is 16 x 20 inches in the frame; actual print size is 12 x 15 3/4 inches and is of wooden construction in gold tone. Both are superb.
PRICE: $225.00; for the large on; $175.00; for the small one |

Book Unser Führer (Item AH 20-6) |
DESCRIPTION: This is a 127-page special edition by the Franz Eher Verlag in Munich. It commemorates the 50th birthday of the German leader, who has gone down in history as the most-hated individual the world has ever seen, but on the other side of the coin there has never been a head of state more beloved and adored. This magazine-format book is evidence of the latter emotions. This chronicle traces the beginnings of the NS movement to its triumphal year of 1939, the year that was to see the fratricidal war that shaped the century and utterly destroyed the European continent and in all likelihood spelled the “The Death of the West” as Pat Buchanan titled his recently written book. The multiple hundreds of great pictures by Heinrich Hoffmann, Hitler’s official photographer, are wonderful and crystal clear in their presentation. Pictures of NSDAP ceremonies, Third Reich architecture, many of Hitler’s political and military officers are there. The freeing of the Sudeten Germans, massive adoring crowds, the Olympics of 1936, the Führer with laborers, children, SA and SS men, the autobahn, the Wehrmacht, etc., are included. Pictures from the historical beginnings of the party abound along with pictures of Germanys and Hitler’s enemies Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, and the colorful, apelike Fiorello Laguardia of N.Y., etc. Great German historical figures such as Frederick the Great, Heinrich the First, Bismarck, Ludendorf, Hindenburg are visited within the pages, as well. The book is just replete with great, rare material. This is a wonderful archival treasure, indeed.

Mein Kampf; Wedding Edition (Item AH 20-7) |
DESCRIPTION: Partly leather bound, this edition is in very good shape having been kept in the cardboard storage box for many years. It is a “wedding copy.” It was tradition born in the Third Reich to present a copy of Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf to the newlyweds in patriotic and spiritual commemoration of the blessed event. In many districts, especially Bavaria, this book and a copy of the Holy Bible were presented to the nuptial couple. Inside the front cover there was an inscription in old German script that gave a wish for a happy and prosperous marriage and words to the effect that the presentation of the book and the meaning of the well wishes are from the particular city that the ceremony would be performed in. The individual information is not filled in indicating that the book although in preparation to be presented never was. So, if you are one of my Germanophiles and are getting married or are in that state of bliss, even though time has gone by, you very well might want to purchase this volume and fill in the necessary information with the idea of having a permanent record of your marriage in the Teutonic, 1930s tradition.

Adolf Hitler’s Personal Typewriter (Item AH 20-8) |
DESCRIPTION: It is a historically established fact the members of the American 45th Infantry Division, the Thunderbirds, were dispatched to Hitler’s apartment complex in the Prinzregentenplatz in Munich. Ever since we presented this article several years ago there have been veterans of this infamous division who have approached us and told us of items that they personally looted from this same house in Munich. Recently we were able to purchase an old Continental typewriter that had been removed from the apartment just before the “intelligence” teams moved in. The elderly veteran said that he got it out in the nick of time because when the intelligence people arrived it was expressly forbidden to remove anything. Intelligence used here is definitely an oxymoron since they burned many important documents just to keep a bit warmer. This typewriter when looted had an inventory tag on it that the vet said was from some German ship and it said something about its being from Hitler’s yacht. The tag came up missing across the years. We know that Hitler’s personal yacht was named Aviso Grille, commissioned and launched December 15, 1934. She was a beautiful craft—443 feet overall—and was the largest yacht afloat at that time. It was built at the cost of a million pounds and by today’s standard this would be about 2 million dollars. This was raised by public subscription and promised to be Germany’s “royal yacht.” Although Hitler was subject to seasickness and not a confident sailor he did see the need of a private yacht—and what a yacht! She was equipped with armament in case of a tight squeeze. She had three 22.7-cm cannon, six antiaircraft guns, two or three machine guns, and the capacity of carrying 280 mines. Grille is usually translated as ‘grasshopper’ or ‘cricket.’ But a secondary interpretation is ‘whim, fancy, caprice?’ But to English-American ears ‘caprice’ sounds the most appropriate to us for a stately yacht. Of all the important personalities of the Third Reich who visited and walked her decks such as Göring, Goebbels, Himmler, and honored guests from Hungary, Italy, and Japan, Hitler was the most frequent visitor and showing off his yacht was the high point of his week. This gave him solace and complete satisfaction not to mention extreme pride. It has been historically noted that the führer, however, enjoyed moments of complete seclusion and privacy whether in the Obersalzberg, the chancellery, the Prinzregent apartment, or on Grille and when on occasion he spent a night or two on board. The ship usually would have been docked and he never allowed it to venture into the high seas when he was aboard. In these instances he would retire to his private cabin after entertaining guests in the morning and afternoon and he would either completely relax with a book or he would work on coming agenda plans. Did he type, himself, or did he call on an orderly when needed? Sailors and officers have reminisced about serving aboard Aviso Grille. Kapitänleutnant Klaus Bargsten, who later was the sole survivor of U-521, remembered clearly when he was a midshipman on Hitler’s yacht. In his remembrance he notes that he often observed that Hitler secluded himself, but sometimes he would call for an orderly. Did Hitler type? The question begs historical evidence, but that this typewrite was his personal possession is accepted completely. The typewriter is a Continental portable model Con-350 and was featured in early catalogs as a model used in the 1920s and 1930s. It was offered by the Wanderr Werk of Schönau, Germany. It has the Continental case and has the glass-covered keys peculiar to this company. The American typewriters dominated the European markets until this company joined the fray. The Continental first marketed in 1904 came forth in the 1920s with the first mass-produced typewriter which successfully competed with American models. It was one of the most popular typewriters in Europe. Now, back to how we managed to procure it. Then came the thing that really got our attention: He said that his grandfather had a few things that he had liberated from the apartment. He even showed us a picture of his grandfather. Sitting in front of him was the typewriter on the kitchen table. He also showed us a picture of Gramps in the apartment building with the same typewriter as he held it with the apartment doors behind him. He holds the typewriter cradled in his arms. We were told that the old man would now be willing to sell it for a certain price and under certain conditions. The grandson would not send these pictures on the internet and when we personally went to their home to buy it we were admittedly informed that the pictures are withheld and we have to give our word that the man’s name would never be revealed. This was a disappointment because we know that a person buying this great historical item would want all the story of its “liberation,” but we bought it anyway knowing the full story of the “liberation” of the contents of the Prince Regent complex. The typewriter is secured to a platform by screws. The platform is structured so that the outer case or hood fastens securely to protect the machine and for ease of transport. The back of this platform has a printed ownership message that one can view and realize that here is the rather positive evidence that this truly is the führer’s machine. The words once in a gold finish spell out: “Privateigentum des Kanzler Adolf Hitler,” “The private property of the Chancellor Adolf Hitler.” The letters are admittedly in poor shape, but any historian or knowledgeable collector can readily see that they are authentic. The item is fully guaranteed by Germania and it is definitely a very worthwhile investment considering the cost of Hitler-owned relics. Go to Google and type in “Hitler desk” and look at what this has been estimated to bring at auction in London. Use your imagination and just think of what letters were pounded out on this machine. What earth-shattering commands emerged from this little Continental typewriter! Here is a chance to own possibly the most important Hitler item ever offered other than the desk. However, also look at the Hitler letter opener at Item AH 19-7. Also see the framed Hitler photo with dedication to Frau Winter, who was his head housekeeper at the apartment. This is actually signed by the führer. See it at Item AH 18-1. These all are absolute historical treasures, but the typewriter to me has special appeal and even a mystic provocativeness. What really could be more important historically in Hitler memorabilia?

Slightly Damaged copy of the Adolf Hitler Cigarette-card Book (Item AH 20-9) |
DESCRIPTION: This is the book published by the Cigaretten Bilderdienst (Cigarette Picture Service). This book is often mistaken by various entrepreneurs as Hitler’s personal album of pictures and we have once been offered one from a jeweler in New York for $5,000; not bad for a book that normally sells for about $250 in good shape; $200 in average-to-poor shape. This book was published in the multiple millions. The book could be bought without pictures for a very cheap price from the tobacco companies and then when you bought your pack of ‘coffin nails’ you would find within a coupon that if you sent it to the company you would receive in the mail a packet of 10 or 20 pictures numbered to correspond with the numbers printed within the pages of the book. Thus a beautiful book chronicling the achievements of the Führer and the NSDAP (Nazi Party) were now presented to the reader. It is considered today to be semi-rare and the pictures are just great. Unfortunately this edition suffered some serious damage at some time or another and something sticky must have gotten into the pages. The outside is mint and in the original packing box, but about 30 pictures are severely damaged while some 40 are slightly damaged and picture #170 and picture #36 are missing; however, the greater amount of pictures are unscathed and the book remains an important collectible for any collector who can value the remaining pictures. We offer it for $175 and we have seen dealers get as much as $10 per loose picture from these volumes. There are 131 pages of pictures. Many pages have two to four pictures. So do the arithmetic; this is a bargain after all is said and done.

Adolf Hitler Dessert Fork and Spoon (Set) (Item AH 20-12) |
DESCRIPTION: This is a rare set of dessert tableware from Adolf Hitler's Berghoff in the Bavarian Alps. This is the rarest of all the Adolf Hitler pieces. We managed to procure these items in the large collection of various flatware that we managed to buy recently from a German collector, who decided to sell his collection. These pieces were the hardest to find of all Hitler tableware and the possibility of his personal use of these items is especially good as dessert was his favorite meal by far. He relished cakes and pies, and ice cream and strawberries floating in mounds of whipped cream. The two pieces comprise a set in dessert flatware because there would not be a knife since desserts generally would not need slicing once on the plate. Very few of the dessert pieces were added to the kitchen invoices when ordered, in comparison to the standard knife, fork, and spoon sets. Seldom does an actual set show up, so we are proud to offer these pieces to the collecting public. The fork and spoon measure almost 6 inches long. Each is in perfect shape. They each have the half-moon crown, ‘800’ silver designation, and the Imperial-looking eagle on the back. This is a great set of rare silverware from the personal possessions of the Führer.

Actual Luncheon Fork from the Service of Adolf Hitler (Item AH 20-12a) |
DESCRIPTION: This is a luncheon fork from the Mittagsessen Gruppe of Adolf Hitler's mountain retreat at Obersalzburg high over Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps. For details see the set of smaller dessert implements above in AH 20-12. We presently have five of these forks on hand, but they will undoubtedly go quickly. They are all in practically mint condition. They measure 7 1/4 inches long and are by Bruckmann, but do not have his signature. They do however have the crown, moon, and the ‘800’ designation, as well as the eagle on the back of the shank. And, of course, they have the Greek key design that Adolf Hitler designed personally, according to the author, Billy Price, in his book Adolf Hitler, the Unknown Artist. The Führeradler, or Hitler’s Eagle, with ‘AH’ surrounding the swastika are clearly seen in base relief. Graceful and beautifully presented these forks may be the last ever offered at this very reasonable price. They are extremely scarce and the prices when found in Europe are out of this world! We are proud to offer them here.

Salad Fork from Adolf Hitler’s Flatware Collection (Item AH 20-12c) |
DESCRIPTION:
This is different than a dinner or luncheon fork in the shape of the tongs. The middle drop is longer and this is what makes it a salad fork. (Why?? If anyone knows please do fill us in) Otherwise this looks just like the aforementioned pieces with the same crown, moon, 800 silver designation, and the Imperial looking eagle on the shank. The condition is excellent and if you visit some of the other places where we have similar pieces listed you will see that we have pointed out the extreme rarity of these prodigiously important historical pieces. Now is the time to invest in these items that are about due to “explode” in price. They are probably the best investment in NS articles today if you can find them at all. This fork measures 7 ¼ inches long and of course has the formal eagle and swastika and the A.H. prominently on the front.
