Kaiser Wilhelm II
Wilhelm II Commemorative Pewter Stein (Item WILHELM 4-1)
|DESCRIPTION: Here is a magnificent Krug or beer stein commemorating the German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II. It is nothing short of magnificent. It measures 15 inches from the bottom to the top of the thumb lift. It is stamped on the bottom "Kaiserzinn" and there are the remnants of a label that indicated that it was once in a shop called Kimbal & Co. Bacon St. Boston. The body of the stein bears the five royal coats of arms of the principal states of the Reich with Prussia being the center-featured one and flanked by Wurtemberg, Saxony, and Prussia again, but this time represented by the Hohenzollern Waffenampt, and Bavaria. Then there are the crests of 19 Gaus or principalities such as to name a few: Lippe, Detmold, Mecklinberg, Hesse, Anhalt, Hamburg, etc. The top or lid has a fine likeness of the younger Kaiser and around his picture is the wording "Wilhelm II Deutscher Kaiser" and on top of the pour-spout cover is his symbol "W II" and oak-leaf design on many parts along with the Prussian crown that decorate the powerful motif. This is indeed a genuine museum piece deserving of being in a good collection like yours. Beautiful in true Teutonic fashion and eminently important historically!
