Imperial Royal Menu, Kaiser Wilhelm II (Item WILHELM 3-1)
|
| DESCRIPTION: We have acquired several authentic period menus that were from royal dinners sponsored by Kaiser Wilhelm II at the Royal Castle of Berlin. At the time these royal events were staged (1902-1905) the castle was the place to entertain important guests. The menus are printed in Old German script and difficult for even a modern German to read. But we can make out that they are luncheon menus—7 to 10 courses from soup to dessert. They make for great displays when framed with a picture of the Kaiser (just a suggestion). They have the German national eagle at the top with another crest to the right. The Kaiser and his court enjoyed many royal dinners here and it was open-doors to the European and other dignitaries. The menus measure 9 1/4 x 6 inches. They were printed in Berlin by C. Hacker and he was permitted to use the term “König Hofflith” (the king’s lithographer). A few have age stains, but still retain their beauty. They are printed on strong card stock with gold edges. First-come-first gets the best of them, although they really are all quite nice.
PRICE: $98.00

The center has the crest of Kaiser Wilhelm surmounted with the Prussian Crown. This is mounted on a perfect oval stone know as sardonex. Bronze Statue of Kaiser Wilhelm II (Item WILHELM 3-4; KSTATUE 3-6)
|
| DESCRIPTION: This is an incredibly detailed statue in genuine bronze of Germany's last Kaiser, Wilhelm von Hohenzollern, II. He is depicted in the uniform of the Garde du Corp, his personal guard of which he was commander in chief. This is certainly the most gorgeous and resplendent costume of the Kaiserreich. The likeness of the man and the accurate sculpturing of the uniform is phenomenal to a degree of absolute excellence in artistic accomplishment. The artist is renowned and he is listed in every archival glossary of sculptures of note. Schmidt Hofer was one of the most prolific of bronze sculptures of the German Imperial era and many of the bronze sculptures that decorated the architectural edifices throughout Berlin's palaces and mansions were the work of this man. His work was always original, never copies of other's artwork. His statues--always dramatic--were also historically accurate to a fastidious self-demand. He became one of the official sanctioned artists to the Hohenzollern court enjoying close relationship with the royal family. The statue is 21 ½ inches high to include the marble base, which is about 1 ½ inches high and 7 inches square. The base is of fine Potsdam marble. This is one of the finest and most exciting Kaiser Wilhelm likenesses we have ever seen, or may ever see. We have encountered others in fine German antique shops and museums from time to time, but they are truly rare. We are very proud to offer this on Germania's web site continuing to present the finest of objet d'art far beyond the "wildest dreams" of other web-site creators. This is a culture site. That's why you are visiting. You are no longer interested in (Y) straps and jack boots. Now is the time for Kultur. We are here to serve your better interests. When the canteens and gas-mask canisters get boring and you still have the urge to collect, that will be the time to invest in items such as this. Art remains eternal. Kunst bleibt ewig!

Imperial Regimental Beer Stein (Item WILHELM 3-5)
|
| DESCRIPTION: This is a very handsome regimental beer stein from the First Company, Ninth Wurtemberg Infantry Regiment No. 127 stationed at Ulm from 1904 to 1906. In the lithophane bottom one can see a fine picture of King Ludwig of Bavaria, a sort of hero to all German soldiers. This stein belonged to a musketeer by the name of Baur whose name is also listed with 54 of his comrades down the back of the body near the handle. All the patriotic sayings abound in the design and much of the motif is done with hand painting over the decal to bring out the highlights. The thumb lift is very unusual in that instead of the usual eagle we have a little bird, possibly a wren. The top is, of course, pewter with various patriotic motif employing helmets, weapons, field pack, oak leaves, and, of course, Wilhelm the Kaiser and the Imperial eagle. Victorious German infantrymen stand at the top in joyful exuberance. The stein is tight! and perfect in every way and is one of the most colorful we've seen yet. It is a .5-liter size and it is signed by the maker in Ulm on the Danube. If one wanted a token Imperial beer stein this by all means should be considered. They really don't come better in Imperial infantry steins.

Kaiser Wilhelm II Dinnerware
(Item WILHELM 3-7)
|
| DESCRIPTION: This is a grouping of Besteck flatware directly from the gala dinner table of Kaiser Wilhelm II in the Potsdam palace. This is in absolutely beautiful condition in fine 800 genuine silver. We are offering three pieces at a time (we have six). This is probably the most elegant design ever used by a ruling monarch. It’s very heavy and bold clearly marked with the moon crown and a logo. They are also marked with the company name of this firm that was granted the royal permission to be the exclusive supplier of this Kaiseruchebesteck. This firm was Gebruder (brothers) Friedlander and this appears on the forks right below the tangs. On the back side of the grip or top is the Prussian crown over the Wilhelm (WR), while the front side bears the Prussian Imperial eagle. Both extrusions are surrounded with fine flora representation that adorns the entire implement. Again, these are almost twice as heavy as other royal or aristocracy items of a similar nature. The items are in beautiful condition. The blade of the knife is slightly pitted (maybe more than slightly) as would be expected in a household item used on a daily basis. Make no mistake, these are from the Kaiser’s own set, and the fact that he actually used them is to be taken for granted. These are probably well over 100 years old from an illustrious and beautiful era. To hold one has almost a magical mental transformation to that time of grace and glory. The knife is 11 inches long, altogether. The blade is about 7 inches long with almost 1 inch wide at the center. The dinner fork is about 8 ½ inches long and the fork blade is about 1 ¼ inches wide. The luncheon fork is 8 inches long with a measurement of 1 inch at the blade portion. The price stated is for three pieces-knife, dinner fork, and luncheon fork. This is a unique opportunity to own a fantastic, historically important piece of the memorable Kaiserreich era.
