The Black Corps (Das Schwarze Korps) (Item SS 6-1)

DESCRIPTION: This is the official newspaper of the . We have a few of these various dates and various conditions. They are filled with great material from the political endeavors and the war. Most of them are so old and brittle that the most that can be done with them is to carefully and painstakingly copy the articles and pictures on a photocopier and perhaps frame the front page as a great memento of the European struggle to save the West (the West lost!) It is a great pity about the condition, but how many 1935 to 1944 newspapers make it? Grade one examples are all in the 1940s and great for wartime content.

PRICE: $50.00 to $90.00 depending on condition. Grade one (left), $90.00; grade two (right), $65.00; grade three (bottom), $50.00

Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler Plaque (Item SS 6-2; LEIBSS 2-2)

DESCRIPTION: This dramatic and huge plaque was one of several that were found recently in Germany in what was a basement or bunker of the former barracks of the elite division of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. After the war this was the barracks known as the Andrew's Barracks of the U.S. Army. How they came into our possession is interesting in that the son of one of the men (a German) who worked in a clean-up crew was engaged in reconstructive work in the sixties. When they opened several passages down below they found lots of unused building material that had been stored there under the auspices of the SS Central Command. Bills of lading with SS authorization were also found. One large packing crate mislabeled 'ceiling tiles' had not been disturbed since 1945, when the building was abandoned. Inside the now-opened crate revealed these plaques; both in aluminum and in bronze. The purpose of these was unknown at the time, but a picture in 1981 that appeared in Der Freiwillige, the magazine for veterans of the Waffen SS revealed the purpose clearly. Since then, veterans of the Leibstandarte have supplied further information. The article actually asked them for information and opinions. The aforementioned son of the man who found them decided long after his father died to make them available to the collectors of the world. After all, they had merely sat in a corner of their plumbing business for all these years since the father had removed them as instructed by the U.S. Army officer in charge. We believe the officer believed the contents were indeed tiles as the outside invoice stated. So, after meeting this gentleman at a show in Stuttgart, I went with him to Potsdam outside of Berlin where I was shown the plaques. After seeing them and being very impressed I immediately negotiated and bought them and had them shipped home. Now I am able to offer these to you! The size of these great historical items is 24 ½ X 16 inches. The purpose of the plaques was to decorate spaces over doors, passageways, and mess halls within the complex and, outside, the aluminum ones would be used over entranceways. See the picture from Der Freiwillige, July-August 1981. The eagle used became at some point the official logo of the LAH. The shape of the helmets on the men and the odd shape of the SS runes are made in such an artistic way as to look 100 percent natural when viewed by a person looking up at the plaque. I have experimented with this and its completely true! Both the helmet and runes look exactly as the should when viewed looking upward. The post that you see one of these sculptures upon is the rear gate of the barracks where the now-famous eagle surmounted the motto of he SS, "Meine Ehre Heist Treue", "My Honor is Loyalty." The copies of all pictures will go with the purchase. Here may be the most dramatic articles of SS memorabilia ever offered on a web page.

SS Enlisted-Man's Dagger (Item SS 6-3)

DESCRIPTION: This is a very nice example of the SS enlisted dagger. It is by Böker Solingen, the best of the makers of SS daggers. It is in very nice condition except for a chip out of the blade at the edge under the letter 'E.' Remember, these were Kampfzeit, struggle time, daggers and the early SA and SS men used whatever came to hand; beer bottles, wooden-chair legs, daggers-if only this item could talk. Perhaps there is some old Red Front Brigade skeleton somewhere rotting in German soil with a tiny sliver or steel stuck in his femur or sternum. Other than for this little problem the dagger is otherwise one of the best we have ever seen. It has the rare vertical hanger and the blued/blackened sheath. It's in great shape as is the grip. The ultimate NS weapon of the early time.

Heinrich Himmler Dedication Dagger (Item SS 6-4)

DESCRIPTION: This is a classic example of the H. Himmler dedication dagger with the handwriting facsimile of the Reichsführer- on the blade. It has the ebony-colored grip which is identifiable as an Eickhorn production by its unique shape. The sigrune button has a copper tint (see Wittman's book, Exploring the Dress Daggers and Swords of the German SS). The eagle in the grip has the high neck often seen on Eickhorn products, but unlike many Eickhorn daggers, there are no noticeable gaps in the grip to cross guard fit. The Eickhorn squirrel is clear at the base of the blade. The dedication In Herzicher Kameradshaft H. Himmler is beautifully etched having a full black artificial patina applied to the distinctive presentation. The cross guard is benchmarked '5.' The patina of the motto on the front of the blade matches exactly with that of the Himmler dedication as it should. The anodized scabbard finish is fine and unscratched. The grip show the usual bumps and nicks of a dagger that was worn, but not abused. This is a textbook example according to Thomas Wittman and he has observed that these daggers were presented for, among other things, appreciation for the recipient's participation in the action of the night of the long knives. The putting down of the Ernst Röhm insurrection. This appears to be true since this dagger came to us through a family whose relatives included a man who took part in this scenario. We had his photo collection and this documented the purge against Röhm and his associates. This is practically the ultimate in an dagger and very sought after. Condition of the blade is near perfect. Overall condition extra fine.
