| DESCRIPTION: “A people with such heroes will certainly triumph!” These immortal words of Hermann Göring inscribed on this cigarette case will someday ring true! History as we have often said is a continuum. Marshal Göring was at least there speaking of the entire Luftwaffe and its glorious deeds. The case is to commemorate the Luftwaffe Nachrichtentruppe, the Signal Corps, a section of the air force that was ultra-important to the whole system of attack and the defense of the Reich particularly in the Norwegian campaign from 9 April to 10 June 1940. The Nachrichtentruppe was essential. The case belonged to an officer of this troop and there is a date up in the back of the case that indicates that he either received it 23 12 1939 or that is the date of his entry into the communications section of the Luftwaffe. If so then he surely was involved in the successful invasion of Norway. The legend on the front of the case is engraved with “Luftnachtentruppe in Norwegen!.” Above this is a beautiful, artistically excellent picture of a Ju-52 aircraft flying above a globe map of the northern world with a signal radio tower emanating messages to the air force of Germany. This is particularly beautiful. The case appears to be silver, but is not marked as such; seldom are any cigarette cases made in anything but silver. The closure is tight. The piece measures 4 1/2 x 3 inches. It’s in generally very fine condition and certainly a rare historically important pieced of WWII memorabilia. But the beauty of an item such as this is that it has so much to say in such a small package and yet is admirable for artistic beauty as well.

| DESCRIPTION: Here is a 1st-Model early German air force officer’s dagger with chain assembly. It is used, but not abused! It is exactly as it was and has been since 1945 (in the veteran’s souvenir chest under the bed). It no longer has the gilted swastikas at the top or at the cross guard. The leather is still good on the scabbard. The grip has some nicks and gouges, but minimal and the whole dagger is in what we would classify as ‘good.’ The blade by Puma Solingen is in nice, bright condition. The scabbard fittings are grey and no longer bright and shiny. But, all in all, the dagger is sound and unharmed; it’s great for its age for sure! They are getting very scarce and should be grabbed when the opportunity arises. This is not mint by far, but it also is not $2,500 and it is a very nice example.

| DESCRIPTION: This is a rather unusual item for the Luftwaffe dagger collector who thought he had everything! This is a set of carving implements manufactured by one of the knife makers in Solingen. You can readily see that parts meant for Luftwaffe daggers were used in their design—the grips, and the ring that fits between the grips and cross guard. We don’t know how many were even made, but this is the first time we have ever encountered a set. This is a really nice addition to a Luftwaffe collection. The condition of the blade is a bit rough since they were hidden away in a haystack in a barn in the vicinity of Hamburg for some 60 years. We ran an ad and the farmer dug to the bottom of the haystack and fetched them out for us.

| DESCRIPTION: This is an absolutely wonderful silver box measuring 4 x 4 inches square x 1 inch deep (cedar lined). It probably is a cigarette box for a commander’s desk. It has a great Luftwaffe standard as the top design that is done to artistic perfection (deeply engraved). It’s marked underneath with the stamped half moon, crown, ‘835’ silver content, and a rearing horse with ‘85’ next to it. What a beautiful WWII souvenir from the world’s best, but tragic air force! They were never defeated in battle, but only by superior amounts of equipment that outlasted them. This is a souvenir or a memorial to their bravery and glory.
PRICE: $785.00; absolutely beautiful |

| DESCRIPTION: The description of these is practically the same except that we have a German Luftwaffe pilot at the top smoking his Bruyere pipe and in the corner are the words “For our comrades of the air our greeting from the homeland.” These pipes look like top quality and the card is truly unique. We at Germania think this is truly a great find.
PRICE: $595.00; the set. No pipes sold separately. |
